Panadol has less side effects and has therefor always my preference with the kids, especially when they’re very young. I got Nurofen for my youngest when she had an operation. Not long ago I had a surgery and found that Nurofen/iBuprofen works better for that type of pain.

I find that Nurofen seems to work much faster. But they’re both effective.

I’ve always been led to believe Panadol is more gentle on stomachs. But I think nurofen is more effective on certain pain causes

For my kids I always grab Panadol first as I think it gentler and for me I grab nurofen as I normally need an anti-inflammatory

I don’t mind either! As long as I’m hammering the entire packet in one night and going into a severe coma I’m not fussed!

As a first instance – after other non-medicine options are exhausted- We use Dymadon (Orange taste preferred by our kids) and this tends to work for most instances, but for high temperatures (39 plus) the only thing that has worked for our youngest is Nurofen (but with milk or food at least). It was also better for muscle strains/etc. We were told by a Doctor and given a fact sheet from a Melbourne Children’s hospital recently saying that children can apparently cope with higher temperatures than adults ( not young babies though)… and 38 is quite okay, so medicating is really only to make them comfortable particularly if it from teething – not infection.
After using Nurofen a few times in a row, we try to use something soothing for the little tummy, such as Infants friend. Also – when it says 3-4 times per day – it means a 24 hour period…so 6-8 hourly.

I use panadol but if no relief move to nurofen 🙂

I find Nurofen acts faster and it does say some people may not be able to take Nurofen due to a certain ingredient . I would check with the pharmacist as well to make sure .

Panadol first and then if needed I give nurofen too.

I’ve used both and don’t have a problem with either. They both do the job and as long as you stick to the recommended dose, you shouldn’t have any problems either

panadol is made for use from one month old. the doctors do recommend this a lot more. nurofen is fine too though. Make sure you get the syringe applicator as it makes giving kids medicine really easy.

Panadol made my daughter vomit, we had to use Nurofen. I think whatever works for the individual is best

Nurofen has always been our go to when any of our kids have had temps ect. For us it is what has always worked best

Panadol is safer to use regardless of age. Nurofen can have side effects, including irritating baby’s or any age stomach including adults. If using Nurofenor anybody you must make sure they eat food and don’t vomit at all.

I prefer nurofen just because my toddler will swallow it more readily than pandol due to the different tastes. I make sure he has food with it though so if there’s no food to be had (i.e. middle of the night dose) then we go for pandol. We keep both on hand just in case.

Panadol is my preference for my children. I have found (and was confirmed by my GP) that some babies (mine certainly fall under this category) can actually develop a rash from the use of Nurofen. So I always use Panadol

Depends on what my bub needs it for. Nurofen or same own brand products are anti-inflammatory so use for teething, ear infections etc. but Nurofen is harsh on little stomachs so i save this only for when needed benefits from the anti-inflammatory properties. Otherwise Panadol/Dymadon for fevers, discomfort that arent soothed by extra cuddles, teething rings, cool cloths etc. i find nurofen helps my bub sleep longer than panadol which is important when theyre sick, but again im conscious of the tummy probs it can cause.
