Hello!

My friends have all cut their hair when they had their baby. I’m a ‘up in a bun’ type of person. Is it easier to manage with a shorter cut? Not doubt she is going to pull any hair she can reach!

  • I did get my hair cut with my fourth but I instantly hated not being able to put it up. I love the mum bun on top of my head when I’m sleeping and I hated not being able to do it…

  • I too have a few friends that chopped their locks off after having a baby. I preferred to tie mine back, took too many years to just chop it all off. Although now I have read of stories where mums long hair has twisted tightly around baby’s finger or toe, causing significant injury. That would be a good reason to get the chop!

  • Well, shorter hair uses less shampoo, dries quicker and I find it is more manageable, even combing /brushing is easier. If you have it longer , there is an advantage of tying it up , and is much cooler in summer than sitting it on your neckline where it can irritate you .

  • go for what you want. there are no hard and fast rules that state that you are a mum so you HAVE to look like a stereotypical one.

  • I find my hair is easier to manage long, because I can tie it up in a ponytail, bun or just plait it, and it all stays in place. I found shorter hair took longer to do, as I have quite wavy unruly hair.

  • Nah I am an up in a bun or pony tail girl as well, and personally just get what you want, it makes you feel good and if you get something that others have you might regret it.
