More Huggies baby wipes designs have been added to a recall, due to the possible presence of bacteria.
Huggies recalled its Thick Baby Wipes Fragrance Free – Limited Edition, Tropical (The Little Mermaid design) (80s and 3 x 80s packs) in December, but has now added more designs to the recall.
In a statement Huggies said it has become aware that wipes bearing the same batch codes (B21072004 or D21072005) are also contained in Limited Edition, Tropical packaging with the Toy Story, Rex (dinosaur) design.
Huggies wipes recall
The recall is limited to the two batches described below, both produced on 21 July 2021. The products were available for sale from approximately 1 October 2021 onwards, exclusively through Woolworths in Australia
The batch codes as printed on pack are: B21072004 and D21072005, identifiable as shown below.
“After testing, it has been identified that a bacterium (burkholderia cepacia) may be present in these wipes,” Huggies said. “Whilst this poses little medical risk to healthy people, it may cause serious infections or health complications in those with weakened immune systems.
“This is an isolated issue and you can be assured that none of our other Huggies baby wipes are affected.”
If you have any packs of these wipes with the batch code B21072004 or D21072005 printed on the side of pack, stop using the wipes and either contact the Huggies team on 1800 028 334 (8am to 4pm Monday to Friday AEST) or through this contact form to arrange replacement or a gift card. You’ll be asked to supply a photograph of your pack (showing the batch code), before disposing of the product.
