Cleaning. BLAH! If your house is anything like mine, you’ll feel like you spend all day everyday cleaning and it still looks like WW3 has just happened (why oh why do people have to live here and use things?!?!).

The sheer volume of tasks is overwhelming and I feel like I have no plan, so I thought I’d use my smarts and find a good cleaning to do list to follow and keep things in check…

However, I stumbled over one particularly cleaning to-do list and almost choked. I started reading this list and laughing hysterically. I mean, does this guy do anything else with his life?

How Clean Is Too Clean?

Then I thought to myself, hang on, I am spending waaaayyyyy too much time cleaning everyday already, how much is too much, and how clean is too clean?

Many people have said this is going overboard, whilst others say that if you don’t complete all of these tasks you’d be living in filth… I feel like this guy is super organised and has it all written down making it seem a lot more than it actually is, which, back to my original point, is why I went searching for a list like this in the first place, so I could be organised and cut down on the actual amount of time I spend haphazardly cleaning….

Here is the list, we would love to know what you think!

  • That’s a great list! I do love a good to do list. It always makes me feel extra accomplished ticking those boxes!

  • Sorry – no list – but my house looks and is very clean and uncluttered. However, my wardrobe needs a good and thorough clean out.

  • Thats a very organised list!

  • I don’t have a list and stay on top of daily chores, and do weekly and monthly chores whenever I get a chance.

  • No I don’t have a list and just do what I can. My approach is “what I can’t do today, doesn’t walk away :)”

  • I’ve screenshot the calendar, really good tips i definitely need some cleaning help

  • Some of that is a bit overboard. I do vacuuming and mopping weekly, one bathroom each week (alternating between the 2), and dusting weekly. Hubby is supposed to do dishes/ wipe benches and take out trash and I do make the beds. Periodically I clean the walls – usually once every few months and fridge is if I notice it looking dirty, same for oven. Kids are asked to tidy up and make their own bed. I change the sheets fortnightly.

  • The Daily and Weekly tasks seem pretty reasonable, though the monthly and yearly would be a bit more aspirational for me.

  • I just do a little each day. It will always be there waiting.

  • This list doesn’t seem too bad. I’ve seen worse but this actually looks kind of achievable.

  • It’s always interesting to see other people’s routine, thanks for sharing. It all comes down to personal preference and lifestyle I guess. I would clean the inside of my drawers and cabinets more, but dust far less!

  • Lists can be a great idea and work really well for some. This wouldn’t work for me with my 2 crazy little monkeys. I clean up and it takes them 10 seconds to undo all my hard work. Once they are older though something like this would possibly work for me.

  • As I have matured, I have come to the realization, no matter how clean you are there will still be more housework to do!!
So I say, do what you can & then get on with living & not worry too much about the little things!!

  • Obviously if I didn’t work much I’d be able to complete a list. But Dust weekly!? Haha I’m lucky to dust monthly!..

  • Barely at home during the week, I would never have the time to use that cleaning list.

  • I tidy every day, then once a week I give a good clean

  • I think this is a great list if I was able to have time to clean each day

  • I do like this list, though I do tend to “Do” as I go. I do have a portable vac and that makes it easy as well.

  • That is a comprehensive list. I hate when i clean and then everyone else comes home from school and work and everything is messy again.

  • That’s a great list! I’d never get it all done though.
