Tennis Ace Maria Sharapova's Baby Joy

Retired tennis superstar Maria Sharapova has announced the arrival of her first baby, a baby boy.

The five-time Grand Slam champion shared a sweet snap with her son, Theodore, and her fiancé Alexander Gilkes.

“The most beautiful, challenging, and rewarding gift our little family could ask for,” she captioned the photo.

The 35-year-old revealed on her birthday in April that she was expecting her first child, saying, “Precious beginnings. Eating birthday cake for two has always been my speciality.’

Maria retired from professional tennis in February 2020 with five slams to her name. She announced her engagement to Alexander in December 2020.

Congratulations to the couple on the birth of their baby boy. [So pleased I wasn’t any where near the birthing area when Maria was in labour, though – can you imagine the noise in a confined space and not in the very open tennis courts?]
