Now this is going way too far!

A mother was told not to pack her son homemade biscuits in his lunchbox – unless there’s one for everyone in his class.

Joanne said the uneaten cookies were sent home from the school with a handwritten note after her little boy wasn’t allowed to eat the treat.

The note read: “Dear mummy, can you please avoid sending cookies unless there is one for everyone. It’s difficult for the other children when one has treats. Thank you.”

note in lunch

Joanne said she was shocked by the comment but she wanted to see the teacher the next morning to get an explanation.

‘I got this note sent home in my son’s lunchbox because he had homemade biscuits in his lunchbox. I was horrified but didn’t lose sleep over it, I figured I’d talk to the teacher the next day and see what she meant,’ she shared on Facebook.

Enough to Be Shared!

But when she met with the teacher, she was ‘gobsmacked’ by her response.

‘She said it was “policy that homemade goods aren’t encouraged unless there was enough to share with everyone”. I questioned why and tried to talk to her openly but she said that it wasn’t encouraged,’ the mother said.

‘I asked “if a pack of Tiny Teddies or Shapes would be okay and she said “that would be fine”. So… I questioned how a homemade biscuit with four ingredients isn’t encouraged, but a processed packet supermarket option was okay?

‘She just kept saying it was policy and that the parent committee runs the policies so I’d need to take it up with them.’

She clarified the incident actually happened a few years ago but she later shared it to her Facebook page, which has since been met with outrage from fellow parents.

  • Well then I would have been sent home a note multiple times. My kids lunchboxes are only made up of home baked goodies / food!

  • SO much lunch box contraversy these days

  • Oh boy! I hope they changed their policy from that time! That’s just ridiculous!

  • Seriously! Madness. How dare the schools keep inspecting and saying what parents can put in the childs lunch box. Can’t put in a cookie, unless for all the kids, ridiculous. Teachers need to do what they are supposed to do and that is ‘teach’.

  • Hahahaha. I love these stories

  • I can’t understand the logic behind this gone too far

  • Absolutely ridiculous!

  • That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of!

  • This is so wrong. You should be able to pack a lunch box for your child without any criticism. Homebaked over processed is awesome. I would keep sending them. I would change schools if they encouraged processed foods.

  • How are we meant to keep up with all these ridiculous policy’s concerning what we pack in our kids lunch boxes! We’re continually told to pack healthy options but when we send food that’s been homemade and would be way healthier then the pre packaged options, it’s still not good enough! Then they turn around and say that the very food they don’t want you to pack in the first place is fine! What if the other kids don’t have Tiny Teddy’s on the day that your child does! So you now must think of everyone else’s kids! Now I’m confused!

  • Wow, no this is just going too far!
There are so many reasons why mums make snacks by hand for their children to take to school. Maybe it’s financial reasons or health related ect. This “policy “ alienates these mums and families.!!!!!

  • I’d be tempted to buy a packet of tiny teddies and tell my kid to bring the wrapper home – and just keep using it to wrap something home made.

    • That’s a good one !! Still crazy that store bought processed food seems to have the preference above homemade !

  • This is just a crazy policy.

  • WAY too far. Not only does this mum cook healthy home made food but she’s told not to unless she does it for the whole class. I hope she ignored the note

  • Wow! Reading all of this lunch box no no stuff is actually giving me anxiety and I’m dreading the day my kids start school.
I think this is quite rude and would have attended one of those parent committee meetings just to have my say.

  • What kind of teacher sends this home? I’m sorry but inappropriate and just plain stupid!

  • How silly! Kids need to learn early on that they can’t have something just because someone else has it. They are growing up in a very spoilt self-centred society

  • That is quite unreasonable!

  • I’m sure all kids have had lunchbox envy at some point it’s just a lesson. Definitely not a reason to tell a parent what to and what not to pack.

  • How ridiculous! I would rather homemade than packaged
