Tired mums are turning to a common baby product to help banish their puffy under eyes and moisturise their faces.

In the latest social media trend, mums are diving into their nappy bags rather than their toiletry bag, to find the must-have under eye treatment – nappy rash cream. Or, more specifically, Bepanthen Nappy Rash Ointment.

According to content creator and mum Laura Drury, Bepanthen makes a brilliant eye cream.

“I have heard rumours about this being a make up artist secret for years til I whipped it out of the baby bag and tried it for myself!” she explained.

“UMMM FLOORED! So nourishing, healing, left my under eyes so hydrated and makes concealer sit like an actual dream. Leave it under for 10 mins to absorb then go in with your make up! Girls, it’s an absolute winner.”

Other women claim the nappy rash cream is also great on everything from cuts and burns, to moisturising lips and hands.

So does it actually work?

It does have ingredients designed to soothe nappy rash, so it makes sense it’s great for your skin The main ingredients are usually zinc and petroleum – with zinc having anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties. The petroleum is a protectant.

Nappy cream is also designed to lock in moisture – which again would make it great for the face.

The takeaway is to do your own research and decide if you want to ditch your regular face cream for nappy rash cream.

  • Who would have thought that a baby cream would be good for puffy eyes. I need to buy some because every morning I wake up and my eyes are so puffy, I look like a different person. Just need to make sure there’s enough on hand for baby as well.

  • Gosh I remember using this cream on my hands and face when I got my first tattoo 30 years ago. The tattooist recommended it to me for my tattoo recovery and also as skin care for the hands and face.

  • It really does do wonders. I use it for dry skin to cuts and rashes and it works amazing.

    • I was recently told this by the chemist but didn’t believe them and was very reluctant to try it for a rash under my eye but I did and I was quite surprised at the results.

  • Not a product I would use on my face.

  • Wow, amazing! I used to use it on nappy rash, never thought to use it for myself!

  • I’d probably test it elsewhere on my skin first, before my eyes. The skin is a but more delicate there than a baby’s bottom
