This Mum has a list of requirements for potential babysitters that takes things to a whole new level!

Finding the perfect babysitter is a challenge. Can you trust them? Do they get along with your kids? Are they responsible? We all have a pretty good idea of what we’re looking for, but one mum has taken things to the next level, posting her list of babysitter requirements anonymously online, kidspot.com.au reports.

Impossible Demands

While the mum’s list of criteria for her ideal babysitter included some reasonable requests, such as having experience and possibly a childcare qualification, there were also some downright ridiculous attributes suitable candidates were required to have.

With such high expectations, and three children to look after, you’d expect a high hourly rate to match, but the demanding mum said she would only be prepared to pay ‘$10 an hour under the table cash,’ apparently equivalent to $15 an hour if you had to pay tax. Talk about stingy. If you want Mary Poppins, you better be prepared to cough up the big bucks!

Gone Too Far

The post has been met with widespread criticism, with many people quick to label the list as delusional. “Would be worried about someone who had the degree/experience but was still willing to graft for $10 an hour,” one Reddit user posted. “For $10/hr I will come over and watch your tv and eat your snacks. Expect to return alive children…that’s about it,” another said. One woman also expressed disbelief at the qualifications required. “I’d love to take the job, but my experience as a paediatric ICU nurse just won’t cut it I guess,”she said.

We think the whole thing is totally ridiculous. If you’re lucky enough to find yourself a genuinely kind, mature and punctual babysitter who your kids like, that’s good enough for us. No qualification can give you that.

What qualities do you look for in a babysitter? Let us know in the comments.

  • Beyond ridiculous! And no respect for potential babysitter/nanny. You’re employing someone to look after your children! That’s important. What’s not important is a set number of years experience, tattoos, 100% attendance (hello sickness) or political views. Utterly ridiculous.
Tho I notice many people are asking and expecting way too much from nannies/babysitters. Or essentially wanting a cook and cleaner but advertising for a nanny as need the kids picked up and dropped off. Or one ad I saw was asking to look after a child who had gastro! Said child isn’t sick or symptomatic and playing/happy, just needs supervision- AND needs frequent nappy changes due to dirrorea. Seriously??? If ur child is sick don’t be advertising for a nanny/babysitter.
These are your kids – don’t make a list of must haves and not acceptable – more important is the qualities of the person. Ridiculous that parents don’t realise this person you’re employing is looking after your kids for God’s sake – THE most important job and responsibility.

  • That is disgusting, I think the most important thing is trust, honesty and a caring nature, I would not want to babysit for this person.

  • This is a long list. Not sure she will find one.

  • Lol, I’m she smoking something???
Wants someone with 9 years experience but only had 5 years and of her own.

  • Just ten dollars an hour? And she wants all that? Nope. I wouldn’t do it at all.

  • No one in their right mind (with the qualifications listed or not) would take that on for that money!! (I reckon she’d be a right b***h to work for!)

  • We use a childcare educator as a babysitter, but pay her WAY more than that.

  • i think the being a ‘Trump fan’ part has to be a joke right? Right?

    • It would certainly explain their comfort level at paying an educated and experienced professional so little.

  • So why 9 years of baby sitting experience?

    Reply

  • That’s insane! Could it be a joke?

    Reply

  • Wow that’s a hectic list impossible to fulfill

    Reply

  • oh my goodness that is a funny list of requirements, I didn’t think being a Trump fan and children would necessarily mix! – I wonder if she found someone?

  • hillarious

  • First I tot the pay she offers must be very high for all that requirements. For the amount of money how about I pay you 10 you come and look after my kids.

  • Haaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!! I find it funny that the slow escalation of this list of demands into unreasonable absurdity didn’t tip over for me until the Trump line. This has *got* to be a joke. I’m in absolute hysterics here LOL!!! If it’s real, this lady deserves everything the internet is throwing at her, and then some!

  • Wow, just wow
Ignoring the pay…the list of demands is just ridiculous…. I get you want the best for your kids but most parents don’t even have those qualifications and we seem to be keeping our kids alive just fine.

  • Reminds me how bad pay is in America. But the demands are downright wrong too and degrading

    Reply

  • Wow that’s crap! I’m just happy to have someone who’s available! I generally use friends or family so I don’t have to pay but it sounds like she more or less wants a nanny for a McDonald’s wage!

    Reply

  • I knew from the headline that she would want the world and only be willing to pay peanuts.
I say good luck to her and feel sorry for anyone who does take the job.

  • This can’t be for real imo.
