In a Facebook group dedicated to the popular Kmart pie maker, one mum has revealed plans for a new version of the appliance.

The Kmart’s $29 pie maker has undoubtedly become one of the most popular appliances in the country with thousands attesting to its brilliance.

In the Facebook group Kmart Pie Maker Recipes, Tips and Ideas Australia, a member said Kmart had alerted them to the fact it’s bringing out a new version of the device — one big enough to feed a family.

“Kmart has advised me via email that their family size pie maker (the large family pie with just 1 large hole) for $29 is due in stores this September,” the mother said.

“I’m so ready!!!” one person commented in response to the announcement.

“Giant custard tart come at me …” said another.

“Hope they are going to be well prepared for the rush of crazy pie maker people,” a third added.

UPDATE: SEPTEMBER 2019

They have arrived!!! We’ve just had word that some lucky shoppers have picked up their very own family size pie maker in Kmart Stores. They cost the same as the traditional four-hole pie maker – $29.

These new mega-sized pie makers are not available online but select stores do have stock on shelves (but not for very long).

Are you excited?

  • I am sure there will be a market, but I just like it in my normal pie pan

  • I can see that this would appeal to larger families …. I won’t be investing in one though.

  • I actually find the little pies cuter. 🙂

  • No I’m not really interested in this. I don’t want all kind of kitchen appliances in my cupboards. I’ve oven trays and forms and am perfectly fine to make the pies in the oven.

  • Wow !!! Probably better a better size for families. This would be great for making pies with fruit in them. With the right filling I reckon you could make some in advance and freeze them to use later.

  • Nit for me, but I bet a lt of people will appreciate it.

  • I recon its a good to make tarts, cakes and family size quiche. I think for meat pies the old (4 small one) is better- to messy to cut and very presentable on the plate.

  • I’m definitely going to try this one.. never really owned a pie maker before.

  • I’ve read all the comments and some recipes to do with the pie makers but sadly I’ve never owned one. It’s amazing the different types of things that people can create. It does make me want one and I may think more seriously about it when it launches.

  • We have a pie maker that was a bit of a novelty. We used it once or twice, but no longer.

  • Sounds more worthwhile than the little four pies maker, but we so rarely eat a pie that I doubt I’ll bother. Thanks for letting us know that K-Mart is thinking about it though.

  • I really need to try making pies one day. Would certainly be cheaper than bakery ones, which have gone up in price recently. Why I don’t buy them often.

    • Pies are fun to make too and we play with various fillings.

  • Looks like a great idea if it cooks the pie well – I have trouble with pastry not properly cooking all the way through sometimes doing it in the oven.
