Here at Mouths of Mums we are always on the lookout for ways to help busy Mums and we thought this was worth sharing!

The new GroupPrezzie online tool is sure to be a blessing in any busy persons life!

Anyone who has had to organise a group gift for a milestone birthday, teacher, coach or even their own child will appreciate this new website which allows people to contribute to a group gift and leave a personal message without the hassle!

The idea began when busy Mum, Rachel Troy, was heading out for her first meditation class in the hope that it would help calm her crazy life bringing up three kids and juggling all the activities that accompany life as a mum.

She explains, “While struggling to reach my meditative state, the teacher encouraged us to “embrace the noise, let it run over you, don’t fight it”.” Instead, I was doing a mental check list of things to do! Item one was to organize a group gift for my 8 year old daughter’s friend. It seemed a good idea at the time but now I had to chase everyone for their money!”

And so began her idea to make the time consuming process of money collecting into a simple online system – taking the hassle away from the joy of gift giving.

GroupPrezzie was born.

GroupPrezzie was conceived and created in anticipation of improving the process of collecting money from a group. It makes the process more practical, less time consuming and easy for everyone involved.

Whether it’s an end of season thank you for the footy coach, Xmas gift for your child’s teacher, a designer handbag for your girlfriends 40th or to help your ten year old son save for an Xbox, GroupPrezzie allows you to organize your group of family and friends to contribute via credit card to a group gift collection. It’s the central payment point and communication platform. It’s secure, collaborative and fun! Once the money is collected, you can take it and buy whatever you like on or offline!

  • This sounds like a great way to organise and make things simple particularly when everyone is so busy.

  • I think it is a really good idea, but not for the small presents. Corporations might benefit largely from this time saving idea.

  • We constantly have staff leaving at the end of every year and this would make life simpler for buying gifts 🙂

  • Great idea for leaving presents 🙂

  • I think this is a great idea for larger amounts of money but not for small amounts. Another con I can think of is that some parents may be offended by it especiially if they already have financial struggles and would buy a $10 present but feel obliged to contribute more out of embarrasment. I personally don’t expect people to bring my children gifts to a party and as I’ve explained to them that Mummy and daddy always get them something but its not polite to ask people for specific things as different families can afford different things. Its nice to recieve gifts but shouldn’t be expected. However if its an arrangement that everyone is happy with such as for someone very close and everyone is aware that it is for a big purchase then it may be worthwhile.

  • This sounds like a very convenient way to arrange presents, but the service fee is a bit too steep for me.

  • sounds great and easy ideas but it would not be worth if for little amounts

  • A great idea as we always do group gifts, but $2.49 per person to pay for the transaction is quite a lot especially if you are only collecting $5-$10 per child for teacher gift. but if you were collecting a bigger value it could work

  • What a simple idea. Would certainly make life easier. And i agree it would be great if you could use Pay Pal.

  • This is the first time I have ever heard of this, it sounds like a brilliant pressie buying solver. Would be even better and more user friendly if paypal was also a payment option instead of credit card because I know a lot that will not use credit card over the net but would happily use paypal.

  • I first used GroupPrezzie for my son’s 7th birthday party last December. Having invited the entire class I really wanted to avoid receiving 25 x $20 gifts JUST before Christmas! Instead, he and I set up a GP and with all the contributions he received a laptop! The mum’s at school were thrilled to contribute $ online instead of wandering around Kmart aimlessly searching for an appropriate gift! I love this service and have used to several times since.

  • I set up a GroupPrezzie last year for my daughters teacher. It is so simple to use and I didn’t have to chase anyone up, everyone contributes at a time when it suits them, GroupPrezzie even sends out the reminders for you, so once you have set it up you don’t need to think about it again. I loved it because it was easy and took the pressure off me and the other parents loved it because they didn’t have to go shopping and think about another gift, and most importantly they could do it all easily from the comfort of their home. One Mum commented that she loved being able to do it all without leaving her lounge. My teachers daughter loved her gift. Everyone was happy. I will definately be using GroupPrezzie more and more in the future!
