In the C.S Mott Children’s Hospital the mega craze Pokemon Go phone game is being used to keep the kids active, happy and moving during their time in hospital.

Child Life Specialist J.J Bouchard says “it’s a way to make the hospital less scary, kids are exploring a place that maybe they were afraid of only 5 minutes before we introduced this app to them and now they want to see every nook and cranny in the hospital and learn about it.”

This is the first good news story I’ve heard about Pokemon Go app and I commend the hospital for using it in a postivite way to help their patients.

Do your kids play Pokemon Go?

  • My son’s 15 and has had no interest in Pokemon Go. I’m more worried about the kids/adults ending up in hospital in their pursuit of Pokemon Go. I’ve heard terrible stories and many complaints from parents. However, in a controlled hospital environment where it’s used to keep patients/kids entertained, I’m for that.

  • At last a good use for Pokémon Go. What a novel idea of getting the children to do their physio and have fun at the same time.

  • As a child i loved pokemon. That was one of my favorite things growing up. My daughter who is 4 now watches the tv shows and asks me questions about it. Its great to see that it brings a smile to a child face and less scared about being in a hospital. Yes it has copped a lot of criticism but in this case its a positive.
