A popular baby activity chair sold at Kmart over the past few months has been recalled – find out what to do if you own one.
The popular Kmart Anko Baby Activity Chair, which has a harness for babies and young children to sit and play with an activity panel, has been recalled due to a choking risk.
What are the defects?
The ACCC says the chair doesn’t comply with the mandatory standard for toys for children up to and including 36 months of age. The material stitching around the elephant’s ear that secures the small plastic mirror may fail and release the mirror.
What are the hazards?
There is a risk of choking or suffocation in young children, leading to severe injury or death if they swallow the released small plastic mirror.
What should you do?
It’s recommended that parents immediately stop using the product and return it to their nearest Kmart or K hub store for a full refund. The chair has been available for sale from 14 September 2022 until 6 July 2023.
