This recipe is a gem for busy new-mums who can easily forget to eat breakfast. Freeze in small containers and you have enough to last the week.

Ingredients (serves 12 | makes 6 small take-away container )

  • 1/2 cup Millet
  • 1 cup Quinoa
  • 3 cups Oats
  • 1/4 cup Chia Seeds
  • 10-15 Pitted Prunes
  • 1/2 cup Currants
  • 1/2 cup Goji berries
  • 4 tbsp Maca
  • 1/3 cup Rapadura Sugar
  • 3 tbsp Cinnamon
  • 8 cups Filtered water

Method

  1. Rinse quinoa and millet thoroughly with cold water.
  2. Add quinoa, millet, oats and chia seeds to a large saucepan. Add water and simmer for 10 min on medium heat.
  3. Add all other ingredients and turn to low heat. Add more water if necessary. You’re looking for a sloppy consistency.

  • This looks so delicious for a cold morning!

  • Nice one ! I would leave out the sugar as it has quite some dried fruit & cinnamon which sweetens the porridge.

  • A lot of these ingredients aren’t available where I live so I’ll have to give it a miss. I will give the recipe to other family members though. Thanks for sharing

  • This sounds really good. Is there a benefit to raparada sugar? I haven’t ever used it but could sub for coconut sugar or maple syrup too…
    Thanks for the post!

  • I’m not a huge fan of porridge. I think it reminds me of my childhood, but in an unpleasant way.

  • I remember a recipe I wanted to try had millet in it and I looked everywhere for it and never ended up finding it!
Hopefully I can find it now as it seems more recipes have it as an ingredient – this sounds delish.
