Ingredients (makes 17 biscuits)

  • 1 cup Baby rice cereal (any flavour/plain)
  • 1 cup Plain flour
  • 1 cup Ice water
  • 1/4 cup Organic coconut oil

Method

  1. Mix all 3 ingredients until a dough forms.
  2. Shape them into your baby's liking and bake for 1 hour on very low heat 145C.

Notes

My daughter is allergic to egg so I came across this recipe to make for her now that she is teething. It is easy and a great way to use baby cereal if you have some laying around! I tried substituting oil with mashed banana or applesauce but the result was a very chewy and soft biscuit which was not what I was after. I wanted really hard ones for her to gnaw. So if you want soft ones, just replace oil with mashed fruits!

  • I think it meant to mix all 4 ingredients, as there’s only two steps in the method and four ingredients listed. I really like this recipe. When my guy was small I would make teethers by baking fingers of wholemeal bread very low and slow until hard. I could add Vegemite or hummus for extra nutrition. He loved them

  • This sounds like a great alternative to rusks.
