This simple lasagne does not require bechamel sauce which is time consuming to make. You can make it as cheesey as you like.

Ingredients (serves 6)

  • 500g mince
  • 700g Passatta
  • 1 cup Water
  • 3 Tbsp Tomato paste
  • 1 Onion
  • 1 Garlic clove
  • 1 Packet Lasagne sheets
  • 500g Ricotta
  • Mixed Herbs
  • Parmesan Cheese
  • Mozarella Cheese

Method

  1. Fry onion and garlic. Add mince and cook. Add water and passatta, tomato paste and mixed herbs. Simmer for 20 minutes or until it reduces slightly.
  2. In a large baking dish cover the base with a small amount of the pasta sauce. Then layer lasagne sheets, 1/3 amount sauce, 1/3 amount of ricotta, mozzarella and parmesan to cover the sauce. Repeat so 3 layers are created finishing with a cheese layer.
  3. Bake for approximately 1/2 an hour or 3/4 hour or until nice and golden on top.

  • I often skip the béchamel sauce too and it is just as good. Thanks for this great recipe.

  • I use ricotta in mine. Ravioli, spinach, bottled pasta sauce and ricotta in layers. A cross between pasta bake and lasagne
