Lovely tomato based lamb shanks. Perfect set and forget recipe.

Ingredients (serves 4)

  • 1 packet Masterfoods garlic and herb lamb shanks recipe base
  • 400g Crushed tomatoes
  • 2 Large carrots (cut into chunks)
  • 140g Tomato paste
  • Pinch Dried chilli flakes
  • Dash Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 Lamb shanks

Method

  1. Brown the lamb shanks for a couple minutes on each side until a lovely caramelised colour.
  2. Mix all the ingredients together in a separate bowl. Adding as much chilli as you like. Can omit chilli if you or your kids don't like any heat.
  3. Place shanks and carrots in slow cooker, pour over sauce and set on low for a minimum of 8 hours. The longer the better. Will know when they are ready when the meat falls off the bone. Serve with mashed potato and steamed veg.

  • My husband will love the lamb shanks done like this. Will definitely be giving them a go

  • Great basic food for winter and love that the longer it is cooked the better. Brags the bones.

  • yum. this looks divine and so hearty. this would go great with some wine

    • Sometimes if I have some left over wine I do add about 1/4 cup to add some extra flavour. But this time when I cooked we had no wine so didn’t think to include as an option. :)
Taste best with a dry wine such as a shiraz.

      • oh ok that sounds really good. thanks so much for the tip and thanks a lot for sharing this awesome recipe. i can’t wait to give it a try now.

  • Oh yum. Another delicious lamb shanks recipe. Still plenty of cool weather here to appreciate these in Tassie :)

    • I’m a sucker and eat “winter warmers” in summer and as its cooked in the slow cooker it doesn’t heat up the whole house like the oven does.. I sometimes break meat off and add to salads or sandwhiches.
