Quick and easy recipe that anyone could make

Ingredients (serves 4)

  • 250gm Bacon
  • ! MED Onion
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1/2 CUP Pea's
  • 500ML Cream
  • 2 eggs
  • 250gm Spaghetti

Method

  1. Boil Water and put Spaghetti in to cook - approx 15-20min
  2. Saute Bacon, Onion and garlic
  3. Add cream and Pea's. Bring Cream to the light boil until cream is reduced by 1/2. Then add Spaghetti
  4. Toss and serve

  • A carbonara is a very quick and easy pasta. I like the addition of peas for some extra color. Swapping chicken for the bacon – or having both! – is good too. The only thing is that being a creamy sauce, it’s maybe not the healthiest – tomato based sauces are usually healthier.

  • This is my favourite spaghetti dish – but would only have it about once a year as I really don’t like pasta.

  • I have a couple of carbonara recipes and I love them. Especially the lower fat version that uses light ham instead of bacon, and lite evap cream. Funnily enough, the recipe someone gave me had the eggs in the ingredients but didn’t explain what to do with them. I now know to beat it and mix it through near the end, while it’s still heated, but nearly ready to serve. Love a good carbonara.
