We love a sweet little recipe that the kids can help make at Christmas time! And these adorable Strawberry Santa Hats are a simple stunner!

Fresh strawberries topped with a dollop of Nutella and a sprinkle of coconut for Santa’s iconic hat—adorable, easy, and guaranteed to bring smiles!

Thanks to our friends at Nutella for this cute recipe!

Ingredients (makes 16 )

  • 1 sheet Pampas™ puff pastry
  • 25 small strawberries
  • 1 cup desiccated coconut
  • 25 white chocolate chips
  • 120g Nutella®

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C/180°C fan-forced. Thaw 1 sheet of Pampas™ puff pastry whilst you line a large baking tray with baking paper.
  2. Using a 6cm round biscuit or cookie cutter cut 16 circles, 4 across, 4 down. Lay your circles on the baking paper, brush with egg and bake for 15-20 minutes until pastry is puffed and golden
  3. Whilst your pastry is in the oven, prep your strawberries by cutting off the green section and creating a flat surface. Make sure they are completely dry. Set aside. Spread a cup of desiccated coconut onto a large plate.
  4. Once your puff pastry has cooled, spread a layer of Nutella on to the top. Next, take a strawberry and dip it in Nutella or spread a little Nutella around the bottom rim using a butter knife. Then dip your strawberry into the desiccated coconut and place on top of your Nutella puff pastry round. Repeat until you have used all 16 rounds.
  5. Apply a tiny bit of Nutella to the top of your strawberry and add a white chocolate chip. Serve.

  • Aw these look so cute ! And they’re easy to make a bit healthier by replacing the Nutella with a healthier spread like the smooth hazelnut and cashew cacao butter from Mayver’s or the Pana Hazelnut chocolate spread. You could replace the white chocolate chips with a healthier version too for example the Noshi white chocolate chips.

Im sure slightly older kids would love to help build these and everyone would love to eat them.
Expecting grandchild number one just after christmas so perhaps in a couple of years we will be making these for christmas treats

  • Totally unseasonable, but I do think these are the cutest things. I’m going to try to figure out another character I could call these – little red riding hood? – so that I don’t have to wait for next Christmas to make them. thank you for this, it’s a great idea.

  • Oh these are just too adorable! I wish i had saw this recipe come christmas time. But I’ll definitely be bookmarking this for next time. We have strawberries all the time when in season and always have choc chips in the house. Love that the kids could easily make these themselves

  • These are just really adorable and don’t seem hard at all. I’ll have to bookmark these and try hard to remember when Christmas rolls around again. Nutella is made here in Lithgow where I live so a great product to support. The grandkids would adore these and I can see it as a fun project to do together.

  • Like the last commenter mentioned I thought these were pikelets also. Puff pastry is a great option though, I can imagine how nice and crispy this would be. Such a great flavour combination also with the Nutella and the strawberries, I like having this as a cheeky treat. Such a cute idea I’ll be trying this at Christmas!

  • Why do I always have to wait until Christmas for these!!
Heck, I’m going to dive in and have them now.

    • I agree; there is no need to wait to make recipes and enjoy these sweet treats. I often make up themed recipes throughout the year and tweak them with a different theme. This recipe could be used at other times of the year too with changes to fruit and colours; such as Easter and Valentine’s Day.
