I always have some of this superfood trail mix on hand- I use it as a breakfast topper over porridge or muesli or as an anytime, nourishing snack.

It’s packed with essential nutrients for healthy Mum’s and bubs during pregnancy and breastfeeding as well as being great for helping to curb afternoon cravings and is a healthy chocolate fix too!  Brilliant!

Ingredients

  • ½ cup natural almonds
  • ½ cup pumpkin seeds
  • ¼ cup sunflower seeds
  • ½ cup natural sultanas
  • ½ cup goji berries
  • ¼ cup diced dried apricots
  • ¼ cup chopped 80% plus dark chocolate (if you’re feeling naughty!)

Method

Combine all ingredients together and store in an airtight container.

  • I made some of this up last night – a batch with chocolate and a batch without and it’s delicious! I’ve always been lost when it comes to making a trail mix with the perfect ingredients – I always tend to put in too much. But this is the perfect mix! thanks!!

  • This looks absolutely delicious and very healthy! I just wish these ingredients weren’t so expensive for a mum on a budget! 🙁

    • This can be super affordable for mums on a budget too – I recommend going to a fruit shop or fresh produce shop or even purchasing ingredients online. Also, make up batches in portion sizes and you’ll find it lasts a lot longer and goes a lot further.

  • Yum. I love this idea as a snack but also as a breakfast topper. Hadn’t thought of that option. It looks so simple — just a quick trip to the supermarket to grab the ingredients. On the shopping list now!! Thanks.

  • How much would be a recommended serving a day?

    • It depends what you’re combining it with but around half a cup over the day would make a great addition to a healthy diet

  • I’m a huge fan of walnuts and macadamias, and we have a tree of each. Would it be o.k. to add each of these fresh raw nuts to this mix?

    • For sure! I love mixing it up. I have’t tried that combo yet though. Let me know how you go!
