This is a poor mans take on the traditional Mediterranean dish

Ingredients (serves 6)

  • 50g Cold smoked salmon
  • 150g Greek yogurt
  • 50g Cream cheese
  • 1tsp Lime juice
  • 1 pinch White pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 Tiny drop of Cochineal extract

Method

  1. In a food processor blend all ingredients until smooth and creamy
  2. Add extra olive oil (extra virgin) for more of a gloss, and cochineal for more colour but try not to make it glow!

Notes

Traditionally made with, fish roe, bread crumbs, olive oil and seasonings, this dip is in its genuine form delicious, but I think this version is kinda ok too!

  • I love smoked salmon, this sounds delicious!

  • I think this is a great twist on an original recipe, I will be trying this recipe but I may blitz up a fresh baby beet (or use tinned if I’m in a pinch) to see if I can get the colouring from that instead of the Cochineal :)

    • oh that is a great idea. the beet will give a lovely colour to that

  • I make Taramosalata with Fish roe that you buy from a Delicatessen. and it’s quite a process! So going to try and make this dip and see how it differs! Looks delish! Thanks for sharing
