My pre-kindy 5 year old has been using ABC Reading Eggs for a while now and really enjoys it. The images and games are really creative and keep his attention. He feels good when he gets things right. There’s also a part called mathseeds which he really enjoys too. He is able to read and do maths before going to school which has him in a really good position. He is not forced, he was ready to learn and really enjoys it.

We discovered Reading Eggs during the first lockdown. It has been a great way to get our 6 year old to do reading, phonics, and math. Our 4 year old also started when he wanted to do school work like his big brother. He loves it and has learned so much. The fact that they can earn rewards for doing levels and then use those rewards to access short games makes them both want to learn. It’s great and gives me time to have a few moments of quiet once in a while.

For me ABC Reading Eggs has been a blessing. Its a fantastic program that teaches your child to read. My son Hayden is in kindy this year and his teacher told us that Hayden was struggling with recognising and sounding out certain letters. My partner and I wanted to help him, and ABC Reading Egg’s has worked wonders.
ABC Reading Eggs is a fun and easy way for children to learn to read. Its bright and interactive to keep little minds interested. Hayden loved ABC Reading Eggs from the first moment he tried it. Leaning but also playing at the same time, kept Hayden engaged and wanting to do more.
When Hayden finishes a lesson level, I get an email on his progress and what he has learnt. This is a great way for me to know what sounds, letters or words he has been learning. There is also a more detailed progress report you can see in the app.
The app is super easy to use and can be used not only on your tablet or phone but you can also use it on your PC. Hayden had no problems navigating and completing lessons. Hayden loved going from lesson to lesson on the map and seeing some of the fun, loveable characters he was about to meet.
After using ABC Reading Eggs Hayden can now easily identify all the letters of the alphabet and sound most of them out. I’ve seen an improvement in his reading. He is more confident and loves reading more since starting ABC Reading Eggs.
ABC Reading Eggs also allows you for trial it for 30 days, for free. I’m sure after the 30 days is up, you will be happy to pay for such a brilliant educational program. Thank you ABC Reading Eggs for helping my son. Because we are so happy with Reading Eggs, we have already paid for a yearly subscription. Overall my husband and I are thrilled with the results and so is Hayden. 🙂

My 3 year old loves reading eggs and sees it as a real treat. Perfect when you’re out. We used it this morning while at a cafe and kept her happy while we were waiting. She read a book, played matching games and more. I love that it’s fun and educational for her and there is so much to explore. We’ve bought a year subscription already.

45 days and going strong… Aayaan has now used the ABC reading eggs app for 45 days and I love that he enjoys it so much.
His favourite part these days is the Library section, where he can choose which book he wants to read and then answer some quiz questions… How cool is that? My video gives a walkthrough of the library section today.

I was so happy after using the trial for Reading Eggs that I subscribed for the year. My 3 year old daughter sees playing it as a fun reward and has learnt from reading the stories on there, tracing the alphabet to learn her letters, matching shapes and colours and so much more. I’ve been so impressed with how easy it was to use. It’s been brilliant in the car when it’s a long drive, she’s entertained and I feel happy knowing she’s learning and doing something productive. Its teaching her computer skills as well which is important today. I love all the different games and sounds and also love the math seeds program too. There is so much there for her to learn that she will never get bored. I’ve already told all my friends to give a trial a go, it’s been brilliant for us already and have bought the year subscription. I can see it continuing to be a great learning tool for her for years to come.

I purchased Reading Eggs for my 2 year old after doing the 1 mth free trial. I wanted something that was positive screen time that would also be educational. Her colour recognition has improved and she loves the puzzles and picture matching games on there. She also has much better recognition of items and colours in her physical books and I have noticed she spends more time looking through her books than ever before and showing me what is in them

When we went into lock down for the first time last year, my Daughter, who was in Kindy/Prep at the time, was given a code to access Reading Eggs for Homeschooling and it was AMAZING! It’s such a resourceful program, it’s bright, happy and extremely attractive to young minds, it’s also super easy to use. The content is fun and engaging, so much so that my Daughter is quite happy to do her “School work”. Here we are again, in lock down number 2, Year/Grade 1, Home-schooled once again and YES! We have Reading Eggs, but this time our 3 year old is taking more of an interest, so we brought a Subscription to the Junior version for her and she can’t get enough. Reading Eggs makes reading fun and it teaches them the skills they need to make it exactly that, fun and something they’ll want to do.

Our 4 year old son has had a lot of fun using Reading Eggs so far. His letter recognition has certainly improved and I can see with further use he will develop his reading skills even more. The only criticism I have of the program is that it is clearly designed for a tablet rather than a PC. My son used the program on a PC and as he didn’t have any experience with using a mouse before, there were some challenges in certain parts of the program as he had the right answer but couldn’t get the mouse to go where he wanted it to. On the other hand, he has now learnt how to use the computer mouse quite well, so it’s an additional skill he has learnt which is a bonus. Look forward to trying out the Mathseeds section with him next!

A few months into our subscription and I really love this program. I can give my toddler some time on ipad, which he is desperate for, but know that he is actually doing something constructive. And if you use the parental controls on ipad so they can’t change apps, you can let them explore the ABC reading platform independently without constantly looking over their shoulder and they feel like they are in control. It’s such a great program, the only downfall is the cost. Not everyone can afford constant costs for things like this. When there are so many other things you have to pay for too.

I was a bit sceptical at first but after my niece got the program for her boy I gave it a quick test run with my son and then signed on board for his own program. His teachers are really pleased with how he is progressing with his reading and writing skills and he received 4 awards this year for all his improvements and advancing grade levels at scholl

Retired early childhood teacher here…
Reading Eggs has been around for a while now. Certainly as good as any similar programs on the market. Most kids engage readily with the program. If your child is going to have screen time it’s a good option which will support their literacy learning at the same time.

I try to limit my 3yr olds screen time and this has been a godsend. My son is obsessed with this and learning so much. I highly recommend. Learnimg doesn’t have to be boring and this entertains them while they learn.

I wasn’t to keen when I first got reading eggs for my niece & my son. At the time my son wasn’t interested but my niece was. She learnt how to use it very quick while my son still does need my assistance. It’s so good as it’s educational & fun. Awesome for quiet time. Or even rainy days as well as hot days & there’s nothing to do.

I received used reading eggs with my kids and not only did they love it but I did too. It really is helping to get my kids up to date with reading after a tough year of home schooling. The kids get to go at their own pace so no pressure and I can see the good results even after only 2 weeks. I highly recommend reading eggs to everyone.

My daughter absolutely loves reading eggs. Especially during lockdown. Keeping up with her spelling and reading and getting rewarded. One happy grandchild in our care using Reading Eggs.
Reading Eggs was suggested to me by a teacher for my grandchild & it proved to be really helpful for her. On returning to school her teacher was amazed at her confidence in approaching her work & her ability to work on her own without asking for help.

My kids (7 & 9) love Reading Eggs. It was actually a life saver when we had to do home schooling, as my 7 year old absolutely refused to do anything, but then smashed through the entire Reading Eggs program with zero whinging – he loved it! And he especially loved the Maths side of it. We were lucky as our school provided the subscription, I don’t think we could actually have afforded it on top of all of the other stuff we have to get for them. Great tool!

My kids absolutely loved reading eggs when they were younger. It was a fantastic way to give them some guilt free screen time doing something they enjoyed. They would be having fun as they were learning.
It was engaging, colourful and fun. The kids loved doing all the different activities.
There is usually a free trial period so it’s great to try it out before you buy and see if it’s something your child will enjoy. I’m pretty sure you and your children won’t be disappointed

Like the title says I cannot praise this app enough! My children absolutely love it and I really enjoy sitting with them and going through each level. My daughter who is 3 is now spelling words that she wasn’t able to a week ago and her vocabulary has improved so much. The lessons are so much fun and has a broad range of activities for them to go through and learn from. We are now also on mathseeds, which my 4 year old absolutely loves. He loves counting and this section of the app has really got him excited. There are books to read and learning games for the kids to play, this app seriously has it all. I am so grateful for this app during lockdown, it keeps my kids occupied and they have learnt so much from it, in such a short period of time. It’s definitely worth the money and I will be continuing to use this app in future.

Really great program for Junior and next level. Keeps kids interested and wanting to learn, have had no probs getting my 2 to do 15 mins or more every day.
Junior level has lots of books and interactive activities that makes my 4yr old want to do them without realising she is learning too!
The reading eggs level has been great for my 6 year old to build confidence in knowing letters and improving sounds in a fun way.
Need a good internet connection though otherwise takes too long to load and kids can’t wait!

@readingeggs and @mouths_of_mums you did it again….
Again I was suprice with part of this amazing app….spelling part-after finishing all 120 lessons and being able to read by himself I noticed that my 5yo needs a help with spelling and there I FOUND IT on @readingeggs .
He was a little bit sceptical at the begging of 1st lesson but he loves it NOW and he is asking for more. He is asking me to letting him play on ipad a little bit more after completing each lesson and he is trying to write short sentences in notepad there. He is so proud of himself .
My 3yo is recognised more letters and simple words, from time to time she is asking her brother for a little help with some tasks like rhyming and bigger books there.
I love to watch how they both are learning to support each other.

How to choose the best lunch box for school
When you’re searching for a kids’ lunch box, take the time to work out what will best suit their needs. If you make the right choice and invest in a quality one, it will last many years.
Box, bento or bag? If your child doesn’t like different foods touching, a bento lunch box is a great choice. Also, think about whether they prefer cut-up or whole fruit; a bento is better suited to cut food, while bags and boxes suit whole fruit. Bags are fantastic if you like to pack separate containers, like smaller bento or snack containers.
Freshness is a must – An insulated bag or box will keep everything cool and fresh until snack and lunchtime. But you can also get boxes that come with cold and ice packs. Remember, kids’ lunches often sit at room temperature for up to 5 or 6 hours before they’re eaten, so insulation and coolness are important. Check out how to keep school lunches safe in the heat.
Easy-to-clean design – Check if the box is dishwasher-safe, or for lunch bags, if they’re machine-washable.
Leak-proof – The last thing you want is a soggy mess at lunchtime, so if buying a hard lunch box, look for designs that are leak-proof with proper seals.
Child-friendly – Depending on your child’s motor skills and independence, you may need to start with a product that’s simple to open and close.
The right size – We tend to pack way too much in our kids’ lunches, so think about how much realistically you’ll need to pack for your child when choosing the size of their lunch box. You may also need to consider the size of their school bags.

Finally, a kids’ lunch box that stores hot AND cold food in one place! Designed out of necessity by a problem-solving mum, the OmieBox encourages low-waste lunches and ends the need to use multiple clunky containers (which always get lost!). The spill-proof individual compartments mean no mixing of savoury and sweet, and the 280ml double-wall thermos keeps soups and pasta hot for up to six hours!
Health professionals agree that kids need a good balance of lean protein, grains, fruit and vegetables throughout the school day. Skip the processed food and try to reach for whole foods that pack a punch in the nutrient department. Here are some great ideas:
Grilled chicken or turkey wraps with fresh salad
Crackers and vegetable sticks with healthy dips like hummus
Whole-grain pasta with cherry tomatoes and your choice of cheese
Zucchini slice cut into rectangles for easy stacking in an insulated box
Getting ready for the return to school has started to kick in so this was a timely read. We have the yum box and i love it, it is so easy for my daughter to open and close on her own. I find the lunch cooler bags also a great idea however some days depending on what else needs to go to school, they can be quite bulky to include in the school bag. I need to do some more research this year as i like the idea of being able to watch it in the washing machine, that is a clever idea.
Along with all of the other back to school products; there is also a good range of lunch boxes available for people to buy. It has been fun to see the wide range of bottles and lunch boxes that are available for the new year for school and for work.
Lunch boxes have come such a long way since my eldest was a kid, he’s now 26! There’s really a solution to everything from food heating, cooling, dividers, pockets etc etc. Lunch boxes are a real fashion accessory and so on-trend these days. I personally love the Bento lunch boxes. They save on plastic and separate different foods.
I am such a huge fan of Bento lunch boxes and Bento. Food should be so many wonderful things; including delicious, fun, colourful and nutritious too. Lunch is a favourite meal because the body is ready for some more calories and a boost of energy. Food looks so good in Bento lunch boxes.
So so many fantastic options! We use the montii co ones for our kdis and swear by it. Its lasted 3 years so far and still standing strong, like new since the first day using it. They are so durable and i find cleaning them to be the easiest for us.
There are so many great lunch box option out there indeed ! I’ve always liked the Bento style lunch boxes for my kids. It reduces the use of plastic lunch bags and packaged food which aren’t very good for the environment and it encourages to present a good variety of foods (which is not only better nutrition wise but lao to prevent our kids from getting bored with same foods all the time.
There are some really fabulous options here. So many variations of colour, shape and size. I love the bento style lunch boxes, so handy to keep food separate and eliminate the use of plastic packaging. The machine washable bags are a great idea too. They can get grubby so fast, this would be so much easier to maintain
This has gotten much easier since my kids hit high school – they have strong opinions about their lunch boxes, so I don’t have to think about it so much anymore! However, I am strongly in favor of bento style boxes regardless of their age. They’re easy to clean, easy to pack, and invite appropriate sized portions.
Great article! Our kids are so lucky, when it comes to lunchboxes, they really are spoilt for choice. There are so many to pick from. Regarding sandwiches, my eldest son, used to hate sandwiches for school lunches. It wasn’t until many years later that I discovered that he’d throw out his sandwiches in the playground bins. My son’s an adult now and he still hates sandwiches. He only likes “hot” lunches. So glad he lives on his own now and can make his own “hot” lunches just the way he likes them.
This is an extremely useful article!! 2 schppl going kids and third starting kinder soon means we are always on the lookout for lunch ideas and lunch boxes. This is a great list with features and prices listed to make the search easier and help with decision making for purchasing of the lunch boxes
This is super useful article and thank you. I can see so variety of lunch boxes from every store. Always wonder which one would be more convenient to use by little hands. I love some of these lunchboxes to give it a try for this year. And then decide to go with suitable ones
Wow, lunch boxes have really come such a long way from when I was taking a lunch box to school. Feel old, like “back in my day”, but we were lucky to have options like are available now. While I like some of these designs, I feel like they aren’t super practical.
These lunchboxes are beautiful but are they really worth the expensive price tag? I have been through so many lunch boxes and bags over the years and found the best it to use an insulated lunchbox bag with ice brick and use small containers to keep individual items fresh and assessable.
I love the bbox lunch boxes. They are so reliable and tough when kids throw their bags around. Easy to wash and store. I have used the we can be tiny snackies at home too. The boys love choosing a certain animal shape. They wash well, are durable and great quality.
My kids are old enough now to pack their own lunches and I am so happy to see the great choices they are making. They take left over meals, cook food in the morning to take and now I am confident they aren’t throwing away sandwiches! I do have the chilly bags for them, I find they fit better into bags
My daughter uses a bento box now for work and sometimes an insulated bag in summer, but when she was at school it was a rectangular lunch box with no compartments. It was very easy to wash each day, just the box and lid, and it could still be filled with rolls/sandwiches and snacks.
Lunchboxes are so important these days. Back in my day it was a brown paper bag or the exact same lunch box that everyone else had and there were three compartments. Today its such a fashion statement and as much as the lunchbox itself is judged so are the contents.
I absolutely love the bb box quite sturdy. It took many lunch box to find one that would last. Before this lunch box we had a stuck on you. I found the stuck on you lunch box didn’t last when the hinge’s snapped they wouldn’t get back to me (only had for a short time and my youngest couldn’t open it so it wasn’t dropped. Just opened it after the 8th time and snapped). The bb box has lasted the last year and a half and still going strong
What a great help for busy Mommas like us. From the style to comfort and convenience, this article really put the best for our kids. Not to mention the added info about safety on what these lunchboxes were made of! I am also impressed about the organisation function of each, it seems small but woooh could put so much…thanks for sharing this article
