The smokin’ corn was a real hit with the kids! It was yummy and not too crunchy. The flavours of popcorn were a real hit and great portion sizes.. the apples and sultanas were a good little addition for that ‘something sweet’ in the afternoon… all in all, tasty little snacks. We would highly recommend all the products we reviewed!

So the opinions have come back (from adults and kids) on the taste of the air popped corn. There were 3 flavors included in the $5.99 10 pack: sea salt, cheesy and sweet and salty. The clear winner was: sea salt! Here is a summary of how the flavours stacked up.
1) Sea Salt – favorite among the kids and adults of the household; a clear winner; reminded us all of freshly made popcorn sizzling in the skillet!
2) Cheesy – it was a winner with the kids but the adults felt it tasted a bit “artificial”; reminiscent of heavily processed products from the 1980s
3) Sweet and salt – this was described by the kids as “odd” and “at first ok but then not”. The adults found that it reminded them of the sticky popcorn covered in caramel, but it wasn’t sticky! Then the salt kicked in and it was “really confusing”… then the sweetness overpowered everything once again and you could finish the portion!. This was the least favourite – especially for the kids – so it was a shame there were 4 packs of this one and 3 of the others.

Sultanas are always a bit in our household ! These are delicious great size , a little less apple and more sultanas would be super as my little miss 2 eats 2 packs in 1 sitting searching for more sultanas ????????. Definitely buy them in my weekly shop !! ????

We have family movie night on a Saturday with our 2 and 4 year olds. I always buy this popcorn as a movie snack as I know it’s healthy and the kids love the flavours. These products are little packets of goodness. They were easy to find in the macro section and only $1 each! The 4-5 star health ratings were an added bonus. My whole family tried them and my 5 year old son loved them so much he stole his Dad’s portion. The Eda-yummy Mix and Cheeky Chick pea packs were very tasty. I admit I didn’t like the Smokin’ Corn product at first as it had a burnt taste but the flavour did grow on me My 2 year old spat his out, but my 5 year old loved it. Will definitely be purchasing these again. A great addition to any lunch box for both kids and parents.

A big thankyou to woolworths and mouths of mums, my daughter is a very very fussy eater and she startes kindergarten this year. The $1 Macro range of snacks – including Macro Cheeky Chickpeas 30g, Macro Eda-Yummy Mix 30g, Macro Sassy Chickpeas 30g, Macro Smokin’ Corn 30g – are so versatile. They are a quick solution to either lunch boxes or last minute entertaining. They have all passed mum’s “nutrition police check” and are ready to go. I love that the small packets go a long way – both in filling with protein and fibre (especially the chickpeas and yummy mix) – and that they give great variety when entertaining. Just buy a few small packets and empty them out into your serving platter and you’re ready to go! So easy! Variety without having to buy huge packets of different nibbles! Or pop them in the lunch box for another treat. The kids have already gobbled down my entertaining platter as an after-school treat so they certainly filled the gap there! The flavours were fine for kids (although being an adult who has tasted really spicy dried Indian chickpeas I would have loved a little more curry powder ‘punch’). Oh.. and if you have to be careful of gluten these can contain traces from shared equipment or something. Otherwise all round excellence here!

My kids favourite of these snacks were the cheeky chic peas which have been a complete hit
Followed by the popcorn
They did not enjoy the smokey corn but either way I feel it’s a great win with the ones from the range I Now know they love

At last I have been able to source these 3 snacks: Macro smokin corn, Macro cheeky chickpeas and Macro EDA-Yummy Mix! The EDA-Yummy mix had sold out in 2 Woolworths stores but today it was third time lucky in a different store! I love the price of these snacks at just $1 and am already thinking that these are going to be a winner!
Nutritionally they all get the thumbs up, especially with their fibre content. The EDA-Yummy mix and Cheeky chickpeas win, being a whopping 17% and 18% of recommended daily intake per serve. That is astounding! The Smokin Corn comes in at 5% – although it is not clear why it is so down compared to the others.
Smokin corn wins on the sodium content being just 2% of daily intake while the others are around 4%. Naturally the protein content is also great with 13% for the EDA mix and chickpeas. That is really quite substantial, and the corn gets less as expected with 4% of protein needs.
I can’t wait until the flavour reviews come back! And to see which ones are winners with the adults and kids in the family! But for ‘nutrition police mum’ these pass the test!

My children (aged nine and five) loved all three of the air popped corn flavours. The most popular being the sweet and salty flavour. They are the perfect snack size and fit easily into their lunch boxes. The sultana and apple snack packs were a hit with both children too. They were a fantastic price and will be a regular in their lunch boxes. Although the children were not too keen on the macro crunchy snacks, other members of the family were and as they are well priced at only one dollar and a healthy option we may purchase them again in the future.

My kids have always loved sultanas but have sometimes complained that some brands were dry ! Not these ! Kids absolutely loved them and the addition of the apples was a major plus ! In fact since trying them they have been requested as a lunchbox item every day by all three of my kids ! Definitely now a pantry staple!

Firstly thanks MOMS for this wonderful opportunity to test out some items my 3 boy’s thought it was quite fun! Master’s 5 & 8 loved the woolworths sultanas and apple! Unfortunately master 9 is not a fan of sultanas so he missed out on this treat. They found the Macro EDA yummy mix & sassy chickpeas a little bland but seemed to enjoy the smokin corn. The overall winner of this trial though was the macro mini popcorn. This was a huge hit with all 3 boy’s and will become a regular lunch box filler!

crunchy by name crunchy by nature… these were awesome. The kids liked the edamame yummys and the cheeky chick peas. I really liked the smokin corn. In fact is possible that the kids didn’t actually manage to try the corn in their lunches cos i sneaky snuck them all. They feel like they’re naughty food and satiate that after dinner snacking craving without really being bad

Awesome product. The cheese and the salted ones are the perfect flavours. Just the right amount of flavour. The sweet and salty were quite bizarre. The first taste we had was not exactly a hit. But we couldn’t stop eating them and decided they were delicious. Weird. But delicious. They will be something we’d buy again

I originally bought and tried the chickpeas to become apart of range of lunchbox ideas. However my 10 yr old tried them once and took them and then asked for them to be bought again! WOW!!! Can I add that he has quite a lot of food aversions. SO this week i have replaced his potato chips with a packet of these and he is loving them! ‘They Taste Amazing, I’ll Definitely Be Stocking Up Again’
Having three young kids, juggling their commitments and her own as a school teacher means Kristie Young’s days revolve around snacking on-the-go.
