Hello!

Today was Mr 4’s Book week parade. I love these moments and I love how excited both my kids get. Mr 4 has been talking for weeks how he wanted to be a deep sea diver (from reading a book about Exmouth, WA). So my trusty mate google came to the rescue for a relative easy idea…. except we didn’t have a long sleeve black shirt and Mr 4 was adament he wasn’t wearing Miss 6’s one.

So after searching the stores with no avail (summer clothes have arrived), I decided to go op shopping. Really should have gone here first as I now had a choice. With shirt in hand we were all set. I had sprayed an empty drink bottle, attached the tubing and made a weight belt out of aluminium foil covered bubble wrap. Woo Hoo! we were organised before the day and we were set.

This morning was a bit of a disaster though and Mr 4 had an accident through the night and needed a quick shower (not something he likes at the best of times). We got him out and started to get him dressed, he was playing with his costume and broke off the controls so out came the hot glue gun for round two… Then apparently the black pants weren’t right (so I borrowed a pair of Miss 6’s leggings and told him I found him a new pair). Eventually we were off to school….running late but otherwise in great spirits.

We parked the car at school and were running to class when Mr 4 rounded the corner to see all the parents waiting to watch the Kindy Parade…. The brakes went on… He took off his costume and didn’t want to go…My shy Mr 4 didn’t want to be centre of attention….hmm what to do…. I enlisted the help of his wonderful Kindy teachers and he held their hand for the whole parade, But I couldn’t have been prouder.

He faced his fear and carried on. I cherish these moments and I love the effort all the parents put in to the costumes and getting the kids ready for the day it is a fantastic way to start a day (despite some rough starts).
