Hello!

I was just wondering what peoples opinions are….
We are planning to go on holiday with some friends and I seem to have been doing all the running around of finding somewhere to stay etc. I don’t mind doing it as I have some spare time and enjoy doing it, but I am terribly worried that if I choose something and they don’t like it or it is not what the brochure advertises and it turns out to be a disaster I will be feeling terribly guilty all holiday and feel I have wasted their money. I have tried to get them involved in selecting something but I am doing it. How can I ensure it is a great holiday?

  • If they don’t want to help organise then its their problem if they don’t like it.

  • There are no guarantees how any holiday will turn out but they should appreciate that you are doing all the work. At the end of the day, you can only do your best and if they are not happy with your choices then they should have done it themselves. Try not to worry….I am sure you will all have a great time! Think positive.

  • I’m usually happy to go with the flow, especially if someone else has done all the hard work.

  • as long as you give them the opportunity to help choose don’t worry about it, if they where they would help relax and have fun.

  • I agree with what some other people have said. Get a couple of destinations together and ask their opinion on each. Even if they are busy you could send them an email with the details of each destination etc. At least then you have given people ample opportunity to have their input.

  • If it were me i would just pick three holidays and get everyone together and say we arent leaving until everyone agrees where we are going that way everyone has had their input and its not just on you.

  • I would look around and see what you like – pick two and then show them the two choices and ask them which they prefer. Should only take them a few minutes to look through what you present.

  • I’d ask them. If someone is organising something, and asks me, and I don’t have time to offer my opinion – then even if I’m not thrilled with the result, I thank them for it and keep my thoughts to myself. Because I see the effort and I’m not going to criticise the “mistake” when I didn’t contribute.

  • If they won’t help you than I would & have booked units that I deemed suitable & gave them all a reminder that if they don’t like – I didn’t want to hear about it as they could have/should have helped pick where we stayed. Lucky for me no one complained

  • I would be making them look at the things and give you a straight answer and if they can not do that than do not worry if they are not happy with every thing as it will be there own fault and not yours. We payed for friends to go away with us a couple of years ago.. we pay for the cabin and food and the lot and as we had to pay for the extra 3 people it cost alot more than just the 2 of us.. I payed for 14 days they did not show up until day 7 which I wasted 7 days extra in the cabin for them and when they got back they did nothing but complain to people but did not mention they got a free ride. Things happen but I hope yours turns out well

  • I would try and get several options, and give the friends the details of each of them. Ask them for their preferences. That way, if things don’t turn out well, you are absolved of guilt, as they’ve had a part in choosing where you stay. And if they absolutely refuse to have any input, tell them now that if they don’t like it when you get there, you will not be held responsible for any problems, as you gave them the option of choosing.
