Hello!

I was inspired by a decluttering expert lady from Japan on the internet. I now fold my underwear and t-shirts and have them stacked neatly in drawers. I use some drawer dividers from Ikea to organise.
I can easily see each colour and how many are left in the drawer. I know when I need to run the washing machine if supplies are getting low or go to the drying rack. I have done this with hand towels and face washers in the linen-press too.
Now I never have to impulse buy hand towels, undies or socks “just in case” because I can see exactly how many I have. And they all get used rather than only some. No more ‘discovering’ lost items in the back of the cupboard or back of the drawer.

  • A great idea. I also use IKEA drawer dividers and find this helps to sort our clothes neatly and so we can clearly see where everything is.

  • It’s interesting reading this. Each season I do this for others in the family, but not me think I better start doing everyone’s more often.

  • Good advice especially when you are in a hurry and you don’t have to sort through everything!

  • Would love to see a photo of how you did this?

    • I to would love to see a photo of this, I fold and stack my daughter’s t-shirts etc but of course she always wants the bottom one and it all becomes a big mess very easily

  • It can be hard to maintain when you’re in a hurry, though!

  • I forgot to also say that the items are stacked vertically on their ends not on top of each other. It makes them easier to see.

  • I do exactly what mom94125 says. It helps a lot!

  • if you place the clothes so they are vertical instead of horizontal and flat, you can see what you want easily/ stack them that way

  • It is good advice and is very true as when clothes are flat , it is actually taking up less space I think . I fold my underwear now and then , but it never lasts as I think it is because they are small items and especially if you are rushing , it is easier to get into a mess . I mainly fold towels and tshirts and my son is so good at folding his own clothes , his wardrobe is very tidy .
