Hello!

I am so thrilled to read about Hoyts considering the possibility of supporting Trop Fest. It is so important to support young and upcoming film makers and to support Australian talent and movies. It is wonderful to read about a big organisation possibly supporting a smaller organisation. Fingers crossed that the outcome is a good one for Aussie films. The Dressmaker and The Water Diviner are movies that required Aussie funding and we need these type of movies.

  • yeah but the govt doesn’t want to put funding into these things because they don’t make money. we almost have a non-existant film industry now. i don’t see it getting better as consumers are moving more away from cinemas and tv and more to internet tv and movie watching.

  • Yes, but it would be nice to know how they got into such a hole first.

  • This sounds like a fantastic idea – we love watching these types of movies!

    • Some of my favourite movies have come up the ranks this way. :)

  • I hope Hoyts come through with their support. It would be sad to lose TropFest all together, it’s a great thing fir the young up and coming trying to cop a break in the industry

    • Good on you! It is important and I hope they follow through too as we need Aussie talent and Aussie movies as well as international movies. We need this support for diversity and we need creativity to be supported as well as sports!
