Hello!

I’m just not one of those mums that likes to go to a mother’s group. Is that bad? My guy is seven months and I just honestly have no desire. My partner is going to do swimming classes with him when the warmer months arrive, and I was thinking about going along to gymbaroo soon too. Is that enough?

  • I can’t see a problem with this. I didn’t find good mum friends till my kids started school.

  • That will be plenty for bub. Mothers groups are mostly fir mums too. Maybe you could find a playgroup when bub is older?

  • I resisted mothers groups for so long. They just weren’t my thing. I did occasionally feel a little jealous of the mothers who seemed to have such a bond in these groups, but then I just had to admit this wasn’t for me and I had to find something else. There was no way I was ever going to bond with someone who only ever talked about kid related stuff. I eventually have found a playgroup that feels right, but I think it’s really about getting the mix of people right.
There is certainly no right or wrong way to feel about any group, just find the activities you can enjoy and don’t worry about the rest. Ultimately, if you can’t enjoy yourself, there will be very little benefit to you or your child.
