Innocent Internet Love - Real Mum story on MoM

2 years ago, through a very lonely period in my life… I began playing an online game through Facebook… I had a “gamer friend” who began with a simple ‘Hello’ through a message… which then continued on to become a great friendship but online only.. for the next 12 months. Since the beginning of this year, we have advanced to making phone calls, which then turned into an amazing friendship where we have shared so much, and find we have so much in common. And I must admit, I started to fall in love with the voice and also the person! Sadly for us, he lives in the USA and I am here in Australia… and our ONLY wish is to keep striving to acquire enough money to meet in person. its one of the most beautiful but heartbreaking situations that I have ever been involved in… BUT we are both determined to make this work, no matter what. But we do laugh at how our “friendship” started through an innocent game (we werent looking on online dating services or anything to do with dating at all) We MUST make this happen, we are not getting any younger!!

I hope you get to meet in person one day. I’ve always thought of internet relationships as a bit dodgy, however plenty of people have found love, friendship and even marriage this way.

Have you met yet? My girlfriend met a guy from Europe and after many visits to and fro he has finally moved to Australia. So far it has been a 10 year love affair.

Good luck! I really hope you get to meet one day. I have made some special friendships through an Internet forum and have met some of the girls in person. It is a surreal experience. One of the friends is moving from interstate to my city after Christmas and we are both very excited about being about being able to be real life friends. Apart from the usual online dating cations, I wish you all the very best!

I know lots of people who have found love on the internet, but never love overseas. I have always been really skeptical of the international side of internet dating. Just be extra extra careful and good luck!

That’s like the modern fairy tale ! Things like this make me kick myself for not inventing Skype first! Have you found that a huge help? Seeing and talking at the same time it could also help for you to know the person you are talking to Is who you feel you are falling for….

I too had that experience but mine was writing letters, as I had no computer in that time. This friend turned out to live in england, and it was a penpal relationshiip that last 5 years, she married, and would you believe migrated to western australia, where I also live, and I had the opportunity to meet and greet her at perth air port. It “made my day ” as the expression was. I know that it is so difficult now with computers, but just keep saving where you can, and you may be able to meet at some specific place, like a half way stop, have you sent a photo to each other yet?. I did with my pen pal, and so was able to recognise her at the airport and sit and talk for quite awhile.. It was great, and well worth the effort, so just keep plugging along there, and it is something that will happen for you …
