Well about 2.5 months ago my hubby n five kids n I packed up all our belongings into a trailer and boat jumped in our two cars and drove from east coast to south aus as my hubby got a new job. Really didn’t want to move and still not sure about it all just trying to make the best of it and be positive. Everything is so different it’s hard. Can’t imagine what it’s like overseas if state to state is so different. School for kids so different we need to have an Australia wide school system!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • We did the interstate move after living in our house for 18 years, it wasn’t easy but we’ve sort of adjusted.

  • I admire you for making the step. A lot of people would not have the drive for such a change and things will improve. It will get easier.

  • I think the school system and road systems should be standard for all of Australia

  • 5 kids!! wow that would have been a task lol.
I agree about the Australia wide school system, should also apply to road rules(especially for Learners and P-Platers) it’s so confusing

  • We recently moved too. Making a new life is hard – and SLOW! The children are slowly starting to adjust to their new schools, but are yet to make any good friends. I have joined some local groups in a bid to making new friends, but they all have different values and lifestyle to what I’m used to and I still get lonely and exhausted. Every now and then I’ll get a glimpse of how fantastic it WILL be here when we acclimatise. It’s beautiful and the people are friendly enough – just distant. I don’t regret moving and believe we made the right choice, I think you and I will just have to be patient and lead by example – I have faith that things will improve soon.

  • I remembered when I first came to Aus for study I absolutely hate it too…. everything was different but once you got used to it you will begin to find new things and adjust to it….

  • I was 15 when my family and I moved from Perth to Melbourne. It look many, many years to adjust: friends, family, weather, driving, shops…. so many things are different. But, after many years, I wouldn’t call anywhere else home, and love it. It does take a while to adjust, but change can sometimes be as good as a holiday. Good luck!
