After watching movies that were filmed in New Zealand, I feel inspired to plan a trip to this beautiful looking country. The countryside looks quite rugged and spectacular. Has anyone else been to New Zealand?

  • We went a few years ago and did a coach tour on both islands. They know places they have access to that the general public most likely wouldn’t find.
On the south island there was so much to see in some cities/towns. In and near Queenstown there is so many activites and so much to see that if you wish to do all the adventures you would need a few days. Since we visited Christchurch there has been a lot of earthquakes and a lot of plces of interest and scenery has been destroyed. In some areas further south even in April you will see snow. We had a small avalanche a few hundred metres away from our accomodation. On the North Island I don’t recommend in and around Rotorua if you are very sensitive to sulphur. Its fumes are very overpowering and even your washing will smell of it if you do any.
Coach tours are probably a bit more expensive than hiring a vehicle, but the driver has to concentrate on the roads and miss some of the spectaular scenery. Your luggage is delivered to your room and collected from outside your door the morning you leave. Some coach tours include all meals and entrance fees to places you visit. The only disadvantage is there are some places you would like to stay longer.

  • My husband has been to New Zealand and he tells me that it is a beautiful place which we will have to visit one day. I would actually like to do a cruise to New Zealand as I have seen posts by friends who have done this. Looks so relaxing and you get to do lots of sight seeing at different ports of call.

  • We went to NZ last November on an 18 day trip – a beautiful country- we did both Islands but would love to have spent more time there as there is so much to see and do. We did a bus trip with Grand Pacific. Even in November there was snow on the mountains and the waterfalls etc, were great. Would love to go back and spend more time there as there are still things I’d like to see and do.

  • We may live in the best country in the world but as far as I am concerned NZ is level pegging.
Just two words for you: JUST GO you will not regret it.
Water … streams, rivers, lakes etc, think milky white to aqua blue, pristine, crystal and magical.
Glorious scenery, beautiful people with a wonderful culture and heritage that as far as I am concerned puts us Aussies to shame.
If you love bush walking, well your in luck as New Zealand does not have snakes, they do how ever have sandflies on the west coast of the south island, so just take some vitamin B tabs or continue eating your vegemite, buy some “Good By Sandfly” its a local product and can be purchased at supermarkets and wear a long sleeve shirt and I’ll be OK.
And most important the best place to visit and should not be missed is : Whakarewarewa The Living Maori Village | Maori Attractions …

  • Years ago we went to Mt Hutt, south of Christchurch. It was middle in the winter and we wanted to bring our daughter to the snow. It was beautiful indeed. But so cold. I’d like to go in summer next time.

    • Thanks for the comment. I love cold weather and snow – sounds wonderful!

      • What I found so special there, is that there were also these very hot swimming pools outside some hotels, where apparently the temperature was around 38 degrees. And there were actually people inside swimming. While outside we were below zero!! Ha! Ha! I don’t know if I could. The only idea of having to take out my clothes to step into the swimming pool.. Brrr!!! :-)
