Hello!

A energy supplier who was never contracted with them took over our provider. No contract. Power turned off three times no warning no bill just moved in. The provider was not the original provider. The provider also said no to us getting accepted by a company of our choice. Fb showed no good comments on the company so were not alone. Rang an utilies ombudsman and matter sorted.

  • Sometimes threatening to go to the ombudsman will do the trick too!

  • glad you got this sorted out. Companies think that you will take that

  • That is unbelievable! Glad everything was eventually sorted out for you, but still should not have happened in the first place. x

  • It is shocking what the power companies are up to. We received a huge bill and after installing an energy monitor it appears that our meter is faulty. We have a case manager who is supposed to be working with us to resolve the problem but he has failed to arrange a meter test even after us requesting him to do so more than three times. We’ve already spoken to the Ombudsman and have to keep trying to work with the company to resolve it. Needless to say it is a strain but I feel better knowing that these issues do actually get resolved!

    • They should of given you an estimate seeing it was faulty as the reading is invalid

  • I swear these energy companies think that they are above everyone else in this world.
I just wish a company would start up that would do cheaper electric and show these big companies a thing or two.

  • The Government Ombudsmans are fantastic in helping people when they’re having trouble with both private companies and government departments. Power companies are so arrogant, and seem to think that they can walk all over the “little” people, because we can’t survive without the product (power) that they sell. Shame on them.

    • They acted really fast and got an apology too

      • Glad they helped sort it out for you. There’s Ombudsmans for a lot of different areas, like banking, power, insurance, you name it, there’s usually an ombudsman to help out. One of the few good government departments that actually help people.

  • I had the same thing happen to me a few years ago, except for the power issue. I just got a bill from another company and was told that that’s who had taken over my original company and utilities. I also don’t like how they ‘estimate’ bills rather than reading your metre and getting the exact amount. It’s a good result for you that were able to have it sorted, but there’s no way you should have had to resort to doing that.

    • Estimations suck. If they cannot get to the box then they estimate This is not fair

  • Surely this can’t be legal – I’m glad it’s sorted.

  • we just a letter from us telling us about all the tariffs going up and a bit of a hike in cost and I love how different providers can change their contracts all the time as when they do this I class it as a breach of contract. We are having problems with our internet as we have never gotten the speed we signed up for we get really slow internet and I was thinking of contacting the ombudsman over it as it was a government scheme so all that lives rural and can not get any internet except satalite and we are still paying full amount each month. So due to alot of factors I want to see if I can get out of the contract with out paying a exit fee
Glad you got it sorted out and not just sit back and take it
