I’ve often wonder how the optician seems to get glasses so sparkling clean. They seem to have the touch with old glasses if they are fixing a screw or adjusting an arm the lens always comes out sparkling clean after a few wipes with their cloth. My small cleaning cloth that they gave me with the glasses just doesn’t do it. (and I don’t like the alcohol based cleaning wipes you can buy, since I think they could damage anti-reflective coatings). THen one day I discovered plain old washing up detergent. They got splashed with cooking oil and I rinsed the glasses in the washing up basin (before doing the cutlery and drinking glasses washing up!) and they came out sparkling clean too! It took a little while to dry and I’m still working on the best drying method, but so far the coating has remained perfect, and the lenses have been brilliant and sparkling just like the adverts for drinking glasses!
