Hello!

Yesterday whilst walking towards my local Coles I noticed a dad with his children at the CR8 play area.
Now this is where it gets awesome …this dad was sitting on a large box of huggies nappies just slightly off the green area the children play on. By sitting on his purchase (the lge box of huggies) he was at child height. By the time I had drawn close I noticed he had had his children approach him, he had given them a cuddle and they had happily returned to their play. He was not sitting at a table and chairs , he was not drinking a coffee, he was not eating, or chatting with other people or texting or talking on the phone. Indeed he was watching out for his children and watching and enjoying them play. It made my heart melt and I was sooo very pleased to see such a wonderful proactive, loving and caring dad. And to end this little story YES I did approach and tell this man just what an awesome dad he was.

  • Nice that he gave his attention to the children.. so easy to just ‘be there’ on the phone etc. not leaving them unattended but not really noticing them at all. Great lesson for us all to learn about being present to each other, especially our children. Well spotted. Thank you!

    • I am always sad when I see people on their phones instead of paying attention to each other. Giving someone your attention is the best gift you can give to someone.

  • Thanks for sharing a positive story about parenting and about a Dad being present for his children. It is so important to be present for our children as they grow up way too quickly. Good on you for paying this man a compliment – such acts are always so heart warming.
