I also got pregnant with the mirena inserted but I was lucky (she is now 2.5yrs old). I was told by one doctor that it was highly unusual and I was part of a very small group where it failed. But was told by a different doctor that they had a patient who gave birth with the baby holding the mirena in their fist and they had heard of similar things happening to other people. But when you have it put in they act like it is the best birth control ever with a tiny failure rate. I also bled pretty much continuously with only a small break each month (kinda like a reverse period) and was about to have it taken out anyway when we found out. Was told when had it put in that it would probably stop all bleeding and that it would be unusual if I got my period at all. Have had some doctors express disbelief when told how I reacted with the bleeding, I didn’t imagine it!
