I found a great recipe on line, It looked amazing, sounded fabulous and I was going to make it. Until I read the whole recipe. In the ingredients it said Cool Whip and I thought could just substitute for sweetened whipped cream. But the very thoughtful American writer had addressed this; apparently she has a lot of Aussie followers; You can’t substitue, It won’t work…. Bummer…. No Snickers Cake for me.

  • Oh no, how depressing, to see something you want and not being able to have it. The author should have put more consideration in for her Aussie fans

  • I just thought you could use the whipped cream in a can. Thought it was the same stuff.

  • I had a recipe calling for cool whip once, I just made whipped cream with icing sugar instead of caster sugar, worked a dream!

  • Cool whip contains a lot of nasties. Whipped cream with some confectioners sugar and some vanilla should be a good substitute. Maybe give it a go? :)

    • I think that would work as I used a similar mixture for the Santa Strawberries last year & they retained their shape.

      • Yay! glad it worked for you! Your strawberries sound delightful! :)
