Hello!

I always knew I wanted to be a mother. I have been blessed with 3 boys and I am happy. According to some I shouldn’t be. Why you ask? I don’t have a girl. Whoa that same ‘ol questions that keep popping up. Are you going to try for number 4? Are you saddened you didn’t have a girl?

I get that some people are naturally drawn to a gender or a purpose. Ever heard the ….”If I have one of each I’ll be happy.”

I just wanted babies. I wasn’t fussed about the gender.

FIRST things first. Let us get some perspective on this huge life dilemma that is seemingly facing me.

I have three perfectly healthy children. Big WIN right there.

I have a constant hand me down supply. It’s like my own private Op Shop in the wardrobe.

I don’t have to buy pink-EVER! Bar the occasional lolly or crayon that comes in a box.

I can use feeble excuses for their behaviour like “Oh sorry he just crash tackled your child, aren’t boys cute?”

They can be satisfied with a loaf of bread and a glass of milk- whatever the age.

There are many reasons to be grateful for having children, whatever the gender.

I am grateful that I can walk out of the house and not notice the half stuck piece of toast trailing my backside because someone has lovingly given me a hug and inadvertently stuck it to my clothing. A positive in every negative right?

I am grateful I never have to fumble through a hair do, especially if it involves bobbles. I could never master those hair ties and I’m sure nightmares would be revisited if had to go back there.

I am grateful I will always have someone in the house that can open a jar.

The fart jokes and constant Lego between the toes might be a downside, but it is one I’ll happily live with.

There is never a dull moment.

And ironically just as I say those words, they scream around the corner yelling “HE PUNCHED ME!”

I worry more when they are quiet.

No blood, no broken bones? Right, as you were. Carry on!

  • As long as they’re healthy, it shouldn’t matter.

  • I had 2 girls first and would have been happy either way with my third. But is did end up to be a boy. So of course he was spoilt by all the girls.
