Your body will not change, if your body isn’t challenged…simple as that.

Do you want to change the shape of your body, lose your baby weight, tone up, lose centimetres and get some muscle definition? I know I do!

Right, then keep reading…if you want to achieve all of these things, strength training MUST be a priority.

Strength and conditioning training is any form of exercise that forces your muscles to work harder than they usually would in order to improve or increase the amount of muscle in your body.

It’s muscle that is your metabolism.

The more lean muscle you have, the more calories you will burn, even after you finish exercising, the easier it will be to reach your fat loss goals, and just to let you know (if you didn’t already), cardio alone will NOT provide you with the same results.

To get the best results, you have to move AND challenge ALL the muscles in your body to ensure you increase your strength and boost your metabolism, which in turn will reshape your body.

There are SO many options you can choose from:

  • Body Weight exercises – think – squats, lunges and push ups
  • Dumbells, kettle bells, bands, medicine balls and machines

But the main thing for an effective strength training session is to CHALLENGE your major muscle groups – this is what will improve your strength and endurance.

No matter what level of fitness you are at, you don’t want your workouts to feel easy or comfortable.

Every time you work out, you need to step out of your comfort zone. Give it YOUR 100%.

So when you next workout, make sure you focus on challenging your muscles, which will boost your metabolism, help you to lose weight and to burn more fat, which will lead to a more lean and toned body.

The stronger you get, you will continue to improve your muscles, the more efficient your metabolism will become and the faster you will achieve a lean and toned body.

  • If you can hold a conversation while exercising then you’re not going hard enough. That’s the advice I was given by a PT years ago.
