Unvaccinated children in NSW are now prevented from attending day care with directors facing a fine of up to $5,500 for dodging the rules. But that won’t stop some anti-vax families.
One NSW woman has reportedly called for parents to join ‘an affordable day care co-op,’ according to the Daily Telegraph.
She has been considering sending a message to the government, opting to instead ‘do it her own way’.
She wrote the mission of ‘The Kids Co-op’ was ‘to provide an affordable, community-run, self-funded child minding co-operative open to all, where no regulations or legalities are imposed by government or funding bodies, and all decisions and operations are decided upon democratically as a community.’
NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard said any unregulated child care service would face consequences.
Operating an educational centre for kids without approval invited penalties of up to $100,000, according to Minister for Early Childhood Education Sarah Mitchell, who said to do so would be illegal.
‘Setting up a service to intentionally break the law is irresponsible and puts innocent children at risk, and I have absolutely no issue cracking down on any illegal operators.’
