This Sweetheart Day, Give Your Heart To A Heart Kid

We’re about to save you a whole lot of time and effort searching for the perfect Valentine’s Day gift – because we’ve already found it! And while this gift doesn’t come wrapped with a big bow, it’s meaningful, heartfelt and will literally help change lives.

While February 14 is Valentine’s Day, it’s also Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Day – or Sweetheart Day. Behind the awareness day is HeartKids Limited – Australia’s only not-for-profit organisation which has the sole focus of supporting and advocating for everyone impacted by childhood heart disease.

And you can help become a champion for the cause this Sweetheart Day, and give your heart to a Heart Kid. By donating on behalf of your own sweetheart this Valentine’s Day, you’ll help fund research into Congenital Heart Disease (CHD).

Why should I donate?

CHD is the number one cause of death in children under the age of one, and 80,000 Australians are diagnosed as living with CHD. Across the nation, eight families are impacted every day, and four children die from CHD in Australia every week. Every three hours, a baby is born with CHD in Australia.

The stats are truly sobering – even more because there is no cure.

So the mission of HeartKids is to give every child, teen and adult in Australia with CHD a chance to live a long, healthy and fulfilling life.

By donating this Sweetheart Day, you have the chance to support their cause and make a real, life-changing impact on kids and adults with CHD.

HeartKids supports those with CHD through educational resources, advocacy, financial support, mental health programs and of course, research.

As a heartkid mum this is a cause that is very special to me and my family! Our cardiac team at Queensland Children’s Hospital are absolute miracle workers. Forever grateful to them for all they have done for my son!
