What’s on your mind? How is your attitude? What are you talking about? What are you saying to yourself?

Do you even know? Do you know if your thoughts, conversation, self-talk and attitude are mostly positive or negative? The answer will be evident from your outcomes.

Nobody likes being browbeaten. What would happen if a person continually picked on another? The person being picked on would gradually cower into the background and confidence and self-worth would be depleted to a point when they may feel too scared to do anything.

Negative Thoughts Stop You From Achieving Your Dreams

So often, this is what people are doing to themselves without even realising it! This is what you are doing to yourself when you choose to punish yourself with negative self-talk. Negativity such as fear, blame, doubt, excuses, punishment, procrastination, will have a harmful impact. What you focus on, grows. If you are often having negative thoughts it’s likely that you are limiting yourself and stopping yourself from achieving your goals and dreams.

Make A Conscious Choice!

Happiness will come from happy thoughts, which may be much easier said than done, especially during challenging times. However, when you catch yourself being negative, consciously choose optimism and turn your attitude around. Compliment yourself, recognise progress, have loving and good thoughts for yourself and others. Have an attitude of gratitude and talking kindly about others as opposed to gossiping is much more fulfilling. You will change your life for the better when you change your thinking for the better. Take charge of your thoughts, overcome negative thinking and reach for the stars!

As a mother, being positive not only benefits you but also those around you – especially your children. Don’t underestimate the influence you have on your family and friends. It’s not much fun being around a negative Nelly!

This coming week’s challenge:

Consciously be aware of your thoughts, conversation, self-talk and attitude this week. Is it mostly positive or negative?

If you catch yourself out being negative, do something physical to help you be aware of how often you are being pessimistic. Eg: do a squat (lower yourself down to a sitting position and get up again), or swap your watch to your other arm, etc, each time you catch yourself out. If you choose a squat, or run on the spot, or push up etc you will certainly know the next day how negative you’ve been! It also makes others around you be aware of their negative mindset – because they’re bound to ask you what you’re doing! Get your family involved, but make sure you’re the role model by leading a good example!
