That silly old bear Winnie The Pooh is heading to the big screen – but this is one flick you want the kids to avoid.

Our favourite, honey-loving bear is turning the 100 Acre Wood into a bloodbath, and it’s breaking our hearts!

The first trailer for the movie Winnie The Pooh Blood and Honey has just been released, and if you’re a horror fan, you can take a look below, otherwise skip ahead to find out how this has actually happened.

It may seem unthinkable that our beloved Pooh Bear is now featuring in a gory horror movie, but it’s perfectly legal. According to Plagiarism Today On January 1, 2022, ‘works that were first published in the year 1926 lapsed into public domain’.

While Disney has had the rights to the Winnie The Pooh book and its characters since 1961, A. A. Milne’s original Winnie The Pooh book is now free of copyright.

That means anyone is able to copy, publish, distribute and create new works based on the book. However, Milne actually wrote four Pooh books, and the second, third and fourth books are not yet in the public domain. So some of the characters, for example Tigger, are still a few years away from being up for grabs.

So that brings us back to the Winnie The Pooh horror movie, which is a nightmarishly gruesome flick that centres around Christopher Robin taking his fiancee to 100 Acre Wood, where he used to play with his childhood friends. But Pooh and Piglet can’t be found, and there’s a makeshift grave for Eeyore.

Apparently the pair didn’t take too kindly to being abandoned in the woods for the past few years, and they’re exacting revenge.

The movie is reportedly due for release later this year. Will you be going to see it? Let us know in the comments below.

  • I truly don’t know why anyone would want to make a movie like this. Poor taste

  • Far out, I hate horror films so will be avoiding this one

    • I do enjoy good quality horror films and some are classics and then again some movies miss the mark.

  • Ahhh no thanks

  • It’s a very sad world when loved childhood characters are used in such an awful way.

  • Why on earth would they make a movie like this. How disturbing

  • I think it’s deplorable and I certainly wouldn’t want to watch it. Winnie-the-Pooh is a children’s story and should remain that way.

  • I do like all movie genres but this one does not immediately tweak my interest.

  • I really don’t know how I feel about this , though really !

  • Ill give it go when it’s on free TV, maybe. I dont see the issue, no children should be watching horror movies anyway. It’s not something I’d pay to see at the movie theatre though

  • That’s a NO from me. Why create something like this, when all we know and have grown up with is the gorgeous cute kind Winnie the Poo.

    Reply

  • No thanks, I don’t like horror movies. Why transformed this beloved children’s book character into a violent horror figure that’s not Winnie the Pooh. Winnie the Pooh is and always will be that honey-loving bear.

  • I won’t go to see it at a cinema. I’ll wait til it’s on pay TV and watch it then. If I remember hs

    Reply

  • Nope! Not something I would watch and definitely not watching the trailer.

  • Are they really struggling to find ideas for new movies or something? Not something you want your littlest ones to stumble across…

    • I think they are, there is a lot of remakes or copying/similar ideas coming out.
