The news of yet another collectable promotion makes me tremble…..but Woolworths’ latest freebie campaign is not for the kiddo’s – parents are going to love this one.

Woolworths has announced that it will be offering free storage containers to shoppers as part of its latest collectable promo.

The supermarket giant will be handing out one ‘container credit’ every time a customer spends $20 in store or online, and scans their Everyday Rewards card, starting from Wednesday 11 November.

Get Free Quality Storage

Once shoppers wrack up a minimum of 20 credits, they will then get a glass storage container for free.

Hey, Big Spender, Here’s A Container

20 container credits do amount to a whopping spend of $400, which does seem a bit excessive for a 20 buck container. But I guess, you could also argue, that you could have just got nothing. So it’s better than that.

The seven-piece storage set consists of containers of various shapes and sizes and is made from tempered borosilicate glass. It’s safe to use in the oven and microwave and is fridge, freezer and dishwasher safe.

The containers are more sophisticated than your average storage vessels, with a plastic lid that can be locked tight and a silicone seal for keeping food fresh. It also has a steam vent for microwave use.

Larger containers ‘cost’ more credits so you can either bank your credits and save up for a bigger container, or cash your credits in as soon as you’ve hit 20.

How Many Credits Do I Need?

  • Round 62L container: 20
  • Round 95L container: 25
  • Round 1.75L container: 30
  • Rectangular 61L container: 20
  • Rectangular 1L container: 25
  • Rectangular 1.45L container: 30
  • Rectangular 2.2L container: 40

Get More Value

“Between Christmas, New Year, and back to school, customers have a busy few months ahead of them and will be looking for ways to get the most value from their shop,” said Woolworths chief marketing officer Andrew Hicks.

“That’s why we’re committed to supporting those who are looking to make every meal count with storage solutions that will mean less food waste, but also help customers’ shops go further.”

“Our new line of glass containers are a great solution to store, cook, and share fresh food while making meals last longer. They’re a practical kitchen staple that customers can enjoy long after the Christmas season ends.

“We know how much Woolworths customers enjoy our collectible programs and these new glass containers are one of the many ways we’re helping Aussies get the most value from their shop this Christmas season.”

Customers who don’t want to wait to collect up points can buy the containers in store.

This collectable campaign runs from 11 November to 2 February 2021, and a redeem only period will run between 3 February to 16 February or while stocks last.

Coles ran a similar campaign last year, where they gave out FREE wine glasses after you earned a certain number of credits.

What do you think of Woolies’ new collectable promotion. Will you be collecting the containers? Tell us in the comments below.

  • Runs for almost 3 months, plenty of time to accrue points. Who won’t spend at least $200 in 3 months on groceries? We spend almost $200/week at Woolies, so we’ll be in for this one. Hoping to get a few pieces but if they run out before we get there, so be it. Haven’t lost anything!

  • Great idea in theory but there’s no way I’m spending hundreds just to get one, it’s silly how much you have to spend. I’m looking to save money not spend more!

  • Quite a lot has to be spent to earn enough for a single container…. doubt I’d get there. I’m sure it’s ‘kudos’ to Woolies to have glass but I do find them heavy, and prefer something lighter and something I don’t have to worry about breaking! So not too much incentive here to spend what you’d have to for one.

  • Better than all the other plastic stuff.

  • Coles are also about to launch a new collectible campaign with MasterChef steak knives in a wooden block. Same as the previous container and glassware campaigns, there will also be a $20 spend for 1 credit condition.

  • This will actually be the first one I collect. We already shop at Woolworths anyway.

  • These look useful – I just hope they have enough stock for people who want to claim them!

  • My first thought was “oh no, more containers ?” But these are from glass, much better then the plastic ones we had last year from Coles !

  • Love this idea! I always shop at Woolies.

  • I agree that every time they run a similar ‘gift’, they run out of the product before I can even get enough points to get anything. This is great only for regularly big shoppers.

  • If you are a regular shopper this is a good practical bonus, though it does take a few points, and they tend to run out for items with the least points quite early on.
