With countless responsibilities and tasks to perform before the clock ticks over to 8:00am each morning, sometimes finding a spare minute in our own beauty routine seems impossible.

Here are a few quick, fuss-free morning makeup tips to help give you that instant fresh and flawless look for the day in less than 10 minutes.

Skincare – Refresh & Hydrate

Prior to applying any make up ensure your face is clean and moisturised. It is essential to have a simple beauty routine every day and night that includes a cleanser and moisturiser that is suitable to your skin type. This will keep your skin clean, fresh and hydrated. Exfoliating is also important – apply once or twice a week to remove dead skin cells.

Pre Foundation Primer

Once you have applied your daily moisturiser apply a small amount of pre-foundation primer, whilst not essential primer will create a smooth base for your foundation. This will allow a nice even coverage with minimal creasing around any wrinkle prone areas of the face. Primer also assists with the longevity of your foundation ensuring a great coverage throughout the day.

Flawless Complexion Cover-ups

I cannot live without a great concealor to help disguise any dark circles and blemishes. It is best to apply a small amount of concealor to the areas of concern only.

Once concealed, apply your foundation from the centre of your face outwards to your cheeks & downwards to your chin – avoiding the forehead area. Take a step back from your mirror and ensure the edges of your foundation are well blended leaving no embarrassing ‘foundation lines’. Apply a dusting of powder over your entire face to set your foundation in place. This will also give you a more matte finish in the oil prone t-zone. Base complete!

Luscious Lashes

To add dimension and a youthful glow to your base start with 1-2 coats of Mascara to the upper and lower lash line. This will define your lashes and open up your eye area.

Add a touch of colour for a sun kissed glow

Using a powder brush apply your favourite blush or bronzer to the apples of your cheeks (to locate the apples of your cheeks smile, the area of your cheeks that rises upwards and outwards is the apple). By applying colour to the apples of the cheeks you create a more youthful, natural glow. Always go with a blush or bronzer that is roughly two shades darker than your natural skin tone to create a natural radiance.

Pout Perfection

To complete your look wave a neutral or clear gloss over your lips to moisturise & protect your pout. Alternatively a bold statement lipstick in red, pink or orange will add instant glamour to your natural look.

So there you have it, a quick no fuss 10 minute make over plan for busy Mums! Do you have any tips you would like to share?

  • Sunscreen! Always sunscreen lol.
The sun is so harsh that I’ve noticed I’ve gotten sun spots over the years on my face more than I would like so I always make sure I cover up.

  • I don’t wear make-up on any day, unless I had a work meeting. I cleanse in the shower, put on my moisturiser when I’m out, and put on lipstick after I’ve brushed my teeth. That’s it. Everyday!

  • Good advice, I always have moisturiser on my face before using foundation. Mascara does add that extra volume and is a staple in my daily routine.
