Hello!

Coming up with unique baby names is trickier than it sounds – considering there are almost eight billion people on the planet and 385,000 babies born every day.

So Mouths of Mums decided to ask artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT to use its futuristic powers to come up with a bunch of baby names that are unusual, unique and rarely used.

For a bit of fun, we also ask it to generate a list of ‘bad’ baby names, and that list is an absolute hoot. So if you’re searching for the perfect baby name for your little one, make sure you stick to the first three lists below!

20 ‘Bad’ Baby Names, According To ChatGPT

Finally, we asked ChatGPT to generate a list of bad baby names. Before it gave us the list, it did supply this disclaimer:

“It’s important to keep in mind that everyone has different tastes when it comes to names, and what one person may consider a ‘bad’ name may not be the same for another person.

“As an AI language model, it is not appropriate to label any name as ‘bad’. Every parent has the right to choose a name for their child that they feel is best.

However, some names may be considered inappropriate, offensive, or difficult to pronounce or spell, and it is important to consider how a child may feel about their name in the future. Ultimately, the choice of a baby name is a personal decision and should be made with care and consideration.”

  1. Abcd (pronounced “Ab-si-dee”)
  2. Hashtag
  3. Lucifer
  4. North West
  5. Osama bin Laden
  6. Adolf Hitler
  7. Anus
  8. Baby Girl (as a first name)
  9. Chlamydia
  10. Darlene
  11. Dookie
  12. Fanny
  13. Gaylord
  14. Little Sweetmeat
  15. Panties
  16. Shithead (pronounced “shi-theed”)

  • Kind of strange to come up with baby names generated by artificial intelligence

    Reply

  • Uh wow, that bad name list has some bad and some truely terrible names.
Overall the lists are so random. From the first one, I love the name Juniper. Then there’s Nimbus… What! AI is really weird.

  • Love ABCD… how confusing would be that at school! This article is quite funny thought, love the chat GpT creativity

  • Some beautiful names in the unusual list. I know someone with a name in the least-used list called Xanthe and with the ‘creative’ name Rosalind, everyone calls her Rosa. In the bad names list Little Sweetmeat sounds absolutely disgusting and sickly perverted, not at all humorous. There is actually a list of names that are illegal/banned to use in Australia (or perhaps just NSW as that is where I was informed of them in my pre-natal class) I’m pretty sure Lucifer, another name in the bad names list is one of them.

  • The first two lists are horrible but the bad names list made me giggle.

    Reply

  • Some are lovely, some are not. You don’t need AI for that!!

    Reply

  • It is amazing what AI came up with, but not really my choice in names. Thanks for the post.

    Reply

  • A few are nice, most are awful in my opinion.

    Reply

  • Some of them are okay but i like more traditional names. You have to be careful with what you choose because that child is the one going to have to live with it not you.

    Reply

  • Who would name their child Icarus, given the associations?

    • Perhaps an Iron Maiden fan who really likes the song Flight of Icarus? The only association I made to the name is the band itself Iron Maiden. The name sounds alright to me I wouldn’t personally use it but I don’t think it’s a terrible name.

  • Xanthe I’m sure I’ve heard before but it makes think of a pharmacy medication. And everest reminds me of paw patrol. Some of these names are quite interesting and might actually make great name choices….. others are a bit out there.

  • “Little Sweetmeat” hahahaha I have to admit that all those bad baby names are REALLY bad. A few of the AI names are quite pretty though.

    Reply

  • A few nice ones, a few ridiculous ones. Standard spelling anyday.

    Reply

  • Give me the old fashioned names. They are easy to spell and adorable. My great-grandson was named Henry Connor and I love it.

    Reply

  • I am not a huge fan of these names but it is a personal choice when choosing your child’s name

    • Definitely individual choice when naming children and special to parents.

  • My youngest daughter is name #3 on the Unusual names list.

  • Fun lists for some light entertainment.

    Reply

  • Can’t say I like many on these lists of names

    Reply

  • Some bad ones in the list of bad names for sure !

    • I’m curious about the motives of people to give your child a bad name

    Reply

  • Ooo some of those ‘bad’ names are really bad. I like some of the creative ones.
