Hello!

By now we’re all back in the swing of the school year … or are we? I’ve never been one of those super organised mums, I iron uniforms and make lunches in the morning, and usually find out about permission forms the day they’re due. So it helps if everything I need to make school mornings run smoothly just works the way it’s meant to.

I want my laundry detergent to not have left any nasty surprises behind when I go to iron the uniforms. I want the hot water to not run out when the kids are having their showers. And I want the cling wrap and bags I use for school lunches to do what they’re supposed to. Simple right?

Honestly, there’s nothing worse than trying to wrap a school sanga in cling wrap that just ain’t wrapping! Or taking the time to make treats and put them in ziplock bags, only to find they haven’t kept anything fresh.

I actually don’t need to worry about any of those things, because like so many Mouths of Mums members, I’ve realised that GLAD is the only brand to reach for when it comes to food wrap and bags. And it’s not just us, our parents knew it as well – GLAD has been around since 1966!

“GLAD WRAP and SNAP are my pantry staples. I bought GLAD WRAP few years ago and have tried all their products since, there’s no going back for me now. GLAD WRAP is comfortably tight and keeps the food tight and fresh. It’s easy cut technology is an absolute winner for me as it prevents the wrap from sticking to itself while tearing it out.

“My kids love their resealable bags equally to pack their own lunch and snacks. They are air tight, durable and seal tightly, keeping the food fresh for a long time.”

It’s no secret that the cost of groceries is astronomical at the moment, and school snacks are a huge contributor! But one of the simplest ways I’ve found to save a few dollars is to ditch the pre-packed little bags of chips and cookies, buy the more economical large bags and then divide up portions of snacks in GLAD SNAP LOCK Reseal Bags.

They are leak-proof, keep the chips and cookies crisp and I love that the secure double lock changes from blue and yellow to green so you can tell when it’s sealed tight.

“I have been using GLAD products for years and cannot fault the quality! A household staple for our family. The price point is affordable, and a clear winner compared to the other brands. Perfect for school lunches, baking and general storage. I wash and reuse my bags, and they hold up after quite a few uses. Will definitely be repurchasing!”

With the cost of groceries at the moment, I don’t want to waste any food, so I love that GLAD keeps leftovers super fresh and they can easily be sent off to school. And GLAD SNAP LOCK Reseal Bags are microwave and freezer safe, so they’re perfect for heating up leftovers on putting them on ice for later!

I also find that for my teenagers, putting snacks, veggie sticks, fruit etc into GLAD bags means they’ll actually get eaten, because they’re portable and disposable. My kids want to get out and play with their mates, and they just won’t sit and eat out of a container they have to put back into their lunch box!

Are you GLAD school is back? Let us know in the comments below, and make sure you check out what our Mouths of Mums reviewers thought of the GLAD products they recently trialled.

  • I am glad school is back because my daughter is so happy to go to school. My daughter has Down syndrome, is 11 years old, in year 5 and goes to a mainstream school. I have always fought for inclusion and after the first couple of years being very tough, she is doing very well now. She has an adjusted learning plan and has a team that finally believes in her. So loves school so much that every weekend and every school holiday she struggles with not having to go to school.

  • We always do have Glad wrap on hand, but I do try to minimise my use of single use plastics by using Tupperware and the like as much as possible. Glad wrap is the perfect thing for transporting a wrap style lunch though. As to being Glad schools back- I think it makes things more hectic!

  • These are a staple in our household an we use them for everything from packing their fruit break, to snacks and even portioning out things for the fridge. We cant live without them and it makes it easy for the kids to pick and mix their own snacks and food for school

  • I find these particularly useful on excursion days, when it’s smarter not to send kids with a lunchbox.

  • After using glad wrap in particular the last few months something I noticed was just how sticking the wrap is and how well it seals over the bowls and plates. It sticks really well to itself in particular and keeps a very tight seal over the food. It’s much better than the cheap stuff.

  • Although I no longer have school aged children, I am so happy that school is back as it makes it so much easier for shopping. I go when the mums are picking up or dropping off their children and its so calm in the shopping centre. However, I do agree that GLAD is the best for plastic resealable bags as the other brands are either too flimsy or too hard for young hands to reseal.

  • I am glad that Glad make such good products. I regularly use glad resealable sandwich bags and their resealable snack bags. They are great for lunch boxes and I keep masks in the snack bags to keep them clean and hygienic. Washing the bags out makes them last longer and therefore more affordable.

  • We do love the holiday periods and any chance to relax and unwind and to slow down the pace of every day life. We like to use a combination of reusable containers and reusable plastic bags for packing and storing treats and snacks when out having lots of fun adventures.

  • We’ve always found the GLAD products are definitely better. I do still use a cheaper version of wrap as there is little chance of is coming unwrapped and budget is always on my mind. The resealable bags though I always use branded as I cand wash them out and reuse many times.

  • To be honest we were all sad when the holiday was over and weren’t ready to go back to normal at all. Last week I was saying to my son “it’s hard to imagine but a months ago we were still enjoying Switzerland and the snow”. My son said to me” can you stop talking about it, you make me very sad”…lol, goes to show. I’m not a GLAD food wrap and bag user; We prefer to minimise the use of plastic and we rather use the bento boxes so no bags or wraps are needed.

  • I don’t have a school aged child yet, shrug he gets Christmas/ New Year off from daycare. I love having him home, but I love the rest as well! It’s all balance!
As for Glad…I prefer not using plastics but admit that when i do, I do use Glad because it works!

  • I absolutely love the holidays and adore the slower pace of life during the holidays. It is a time to enjoy focused family time and to pursue hobbies and activities and other pursuits. We love the outdoors and we also use snap lock bags for taking snacks and food when outdoors.

  • I don’t have school aged children, but we still use zip lock bags for multiple purposes and I agree that the GLAD bags are better quality and actually stay shut until you pull them apart.

  • Honesty i prefer the school holidays. I love the slower mornings and getting to hang out with my kids but since school is back I do agree with the rest of this article and I love Glad products. Our primary school is big on “no waste” and prefer containers but my highschoolers always use Glad products.

  • I am TOTALLY GLAD that school is back. Glad is the only brand I use as it sticks and the snap to lock bags actually last. I try and use mine multiple times when i am using them for crackers, fruit etc as they last and easy clean to allow you a couple of uses out of each one.
