Hello!

Such a fun, messy play activity for kids of all ages. It is messy so have old cloths on hand to mop up and have your child wear old clothes or a paint smock. For some very enthusiastic kids, bubbles that are blown very hard tend to pop near their eyes/face so get them to blow gently! Alternatively, you could have them wear swimming goggles to keep the bubbles out of their eyes.

Material

  • Dishwashing liquid
  • Washable paint
  • Water
  • Heavy construction paper
  • Straws
  • Medium bowl

Method

  1. In a medium bowl, combine 1 part water to 2 parts paint and 2 parts dishwashing liquid. Mix really well.
  2. Blow through the straw into the paint mixture to create "soap bubbles". Get the bubbles to bubble up over the lip of the bowl.
  3. Place a piece of paper over the bubbles to catch their pattern on the paper. Use heavier paper so that the soap bubbles don't wrinkle or disintegrate the paper.

Repeat again and again and again.

Notes

Get your child to practice blowing out of the straw before putting it in the paint mixture. Kids automatically suck up with a straw (even the older ones!)
