Movie fans in Queensland can now take in their favourite films from the front row while snuggled up in a double bed.

The Gladstone Cinemas recently revealed it recently added four double beds to one of its cinemas to create the ultimate viewing experience.

‘Big screen beds’ officially launches this week, however, general manager Melissa Struik said it’s something the cinema has been working on for a while.

We trialled it over this past week to paying customers and it has been so well received,’ Ms Spruik told 7News.

Because the experience is designed to be extra special, those wishing to indulge have their own candy bar counter and snacks are delivered to them in the cinema.

As well as being comfortable, the beds come with freshly-washed sheets, pillows, duvets and blankets. And all bedding is changed after each session. (Oh god I HOPE so!)

‘Peoples main concerns are hygiene surprisingly, and of course, we wouldn’t do anything that’s unhygienic,’ said Ms Struik.

Ms Struik added staff are keeping a watch on things, generally those in the beds are ‘well behaved’ and are respectful of others around them.

All details here.

What do you think of this concept? Keen or no thanks!

  • A tad weird if you ask me and im not sure how comfortable I would be with this.

  • Don’t know how they would keep this sort of thing clean!!!
I would prefer leather seats in cinemas as I think it would be much easier to clean and keep bacteria at bay.

  • No l like gold class but not a double bed !

  • Yikes! not something I’d like to sit in. Get a motel room not a movie theatre.

  • Ew, no thanks! I can just imagine what some people would get up to if these were installed in all cinemas. Yuck!

  • Don’t like this idea – I find it hard not to fall asleep in the lounge let alone a bed.

  • I’m not sure how comfortable I’d feel with everyone else in the cinema, wouldn’t be completely relaxing I don’t think. Great idea though, perhaps be better to have a more secluded area or something, one to think about for sure.

  • I’m happy with the reclining chairs definitely don’t need a bed and wouldn’t be keen on having people in front of me in a bed either.

  • Hygiene is definitely a must here, nice idea, I would probably fall asleep.

  • Not keen thanks. How long before someone decides to have sex during the movie? Unfortunately, I would fall asleep so would then find the whole Gold Class experience an expensive waste of time.

  • Ew. First thought and last thought. Hard pass!!!

  • A big NO!
Snug movie watching is for home!
I already have concerns about chairs/seats at cinemas and………a bed…..NO!

  • Looks comfy but I’d be much more comfortable using a recliner chair. I find it very uncomfortable trying to watch tv in bed.

  • I can imagine there is a lot more than movie watching going on, no not for me, I think I would fall asleep too, then would be a waste of money.

  • Ew no thanks not for me. Plus I’d probably only get five minutes in and fall to sleep. Recliner chair option is more to my liking.

  • I think this is kinda gross. I would rather the recliner chairs and take your own blanket!

    Reply

  • I think the seat that recline look comfy enough and if they don’t have arm rests and are immediately next to another one, then I think that is probably comfort enough if you went with a partner.

  • Sounds like a fun night out but seriously don’t think I would want to lay on a communal bed even if the sheets were changed every new movie sesion. I can stay home in my own bed and watch movies for cheaper than there.

    Reply

  • Ha. Ha. I really don’t see the need for that!!

    Reply

  • No thank you! I should very much doubt the bedding is cleaned between sessions …. and what about the mattresses themselves …..!
