Not only does it whip up your favourite icy drinks with little fuss, but it also makes ice cream! It features six presets, including cocktails and milkshakes, and it has detachable parts for easy clean-ups. A fantastic price for a clever kitchen gadget.

What people are saying:

“I’ve had mine for a month and absolutely worth it! Ive made Frozen cocktails which were absolutely amazing! I used Mango Nector from Coles & added vodka, it was the best on a hot day. Frozen Margs were a hit! My son loves his slushies – we’ve had Coca-cola, Solo, Fanta, Powerade, Dr Pepper, Raspberry, Prime. Ice-cream took a bit of trial & error but I’ve got it down now! Frappes are sooooo delish. Well worth it for the price!”
(Mel Huriwai)

Ninja SLUSHi Professional Frozen Drink Maker, $339

Ninja Slushi Frozen Drink Maker.

With thousands of gushing fans, the Ninja SLUSHi is definitely the cool kid on the block – and it’s not hard to see why. Equipped with RapidChill Technology, it requires no ice to spin your favourite bevvies into slushies, smoothies, frappes and cocktails. It serves up to nine people with its 2.6L capacity and keeps drinks cold for 12 hours!

What people are saying:

“I have had the ninja for almost a year. Love it, have done 18+ drinks in there (pina colada) and kids slushies. Easy to clean, just pull the handle and slide off the rotating part and case, throw them in the warm soapy water or dishwasher.” Im thinking of a second one specially for parties or large gatherings. One for kids one for adults etc but I wouldn’t want anything smaller than the 2.6L I have and we have 3 kids ft, 5 pt.”
(Natasha Turner)

“The Ninja slushy maker is awesome and easy to use. Less than an hour for just under 2L of softdrink. Only issue I had was that the orange fanta stained the plastic slightly but does not affect the unit itself. I did the rinse cycle twice to ensure unit was cleaned more thoroughly, but that’s just me.”
(Rachel Hoareau)

“Love my Ninja, got it last weekend and have already ordered another one. It’s super easy to clean and doesn’t take too long to make. Only downside is that it’s not big enough to fill 4 of our Yetis so only have them half full (which probably isn’t a bad thing) and they stay Slushie for ages if left.”
(Anne Hockey)

“Ninja 100% we make so much in it! Worth the money!”
(Ashleigh Leadbeatter)

FAQs

What presets do slushie makers have?

Many popular slushie makers in Australia have presets that include drinks like frappes, milkshakes, juices, cocktails and frozen wine. Some even make soft serve ice cream and sorbet.

Are slushie makers really self-cleaning?

Many say they have a “self-cleaning” function, but this is more of a “rinse” feature than a cleaning one; nevertheless, super handy in between batches, especially if you’re changing flavours. You will still need to wash the main parts after use – but the good news is, many brands make parts dishwasher-safe.

Can you use sugar-free products in slushie makers?

The issue with using sugar-free products in slushie makers is that they can freeze too fast and create a hard, crunchy consistency as opposed to a smoother or creamier consistency. So when brands say you need a certain amount of sugar, it’s related to consistency, not taste.

How long does it take to make a slushie?

It usually takes between 15 to 60 minutes to make a slushie in a machine.

  • I’m actually wondering whether an ice cream maker might be a better investment for us? I mean, I can see it getting year round use, while a slushie maker seems like it might not get used much once the weather gets colder. Does anyone have any ideas about that? Any experience perhaps?

  • Thank you for sharing your insights ! When I would purchase a slushie machine I would love to have one that can also make ice cream ! Slushies and ice creams are great for on hot days and would also be great for when you organise any type of gathering throughout the year

  • WOW…never thought you could have your own slushy machine. This would please my sister Janice, as she usually orders two at a time when going through a drive through. Nice to see some affordable appliances. For myself, living out west in the desert like I do, this would get a lot of use in my kitchen.

  • Not sure that I have room for another device but I can see slushy makers on the Christmas list for many families this year. They are lovely and cooling in heatwave conditions. Good that Anko have a more affordable slushy machine so that it is within reach of those who really desire it.

  • I do not understand the slushy craze. They are delicious but it is not an appliance i would buy as it is something i would use maybe once or twice and then it would collect dust. For those who love to have parties and people over regularly it is a fantastic idea.

  • I have the ninja slushie and it’s amazing. It gets a big workout nearly every day now that we are in summer. I’m holding out to get the ninja slushie MAX

  • Everyone is obsessing over slushie machines lately and I don’t blame them haha! I know in my house they would be such a hit with every single one of us! I’m trying hard to not go out and buy one haha it’s very tempting though when I keep seeing all the yummy drinks that can be made.

  • I do love the idea of having a slushie machine, but we bought a cheaper one that came out as a Christmas special ages ago and it doesn’t really work for alcoholic beverages. The problem being that alcohol does not really freeze very easily. It has a higher freeze point than water, so doesn’t work well.

  • Wow, seems so awesome we can now have slushie machines in our own kitchens! As I kid I would have especially loved this! Love that you can make healthier frappe style slushies for kids with fruits and that it would work perfectly for cocktails too. I might just have to put one on my Christmas wish list!

  • This is such a helpful article with all the info in one chart. I would love a slushie machine, especially one that also makes soft serve ice cream.

  • All these new slushie machines hitting the market recently seem to be all the new rage with everyone and all the influencers! I can appreciate how amazing it is to be able to make slushies at home but realistically, how often will these be used after summer as it makes quite a bit!

  • Fabulous article and so timely with summer approaching and those warm afternoon evenings where we all want something delicious and cold to drink. I love the Ninja brand, it is a worthy brand that never fails. I have had other Ninja appliances that last and last. This article is making me want a cocktail now.

  • This is a great article and I’m going to get my husband to read it through too. I have been considering getting one for a while now and was waiting for them to come down in price. Glad I did as so many new ones available with different functions. My husband surprised me with one about 6 months ago and even he admits it’s a dud. (Not on this page)

  • I am definitely looking into one of these for summer holidays. I can guarantee it will get a workout for Christmas day lunch, boxing day and every other summer day. It will be hit with the adults and kids with the variety of drinks that we can make with this machine. Love it!

  • I mean, what’s there not to love about a slushie…hot day or not! And yes the ones now that do sorbets and soft serve and sooooo tempting…. but I’m resisting because of the sugar! It’s my absolute weakness and having it on hand I think would be very dangerous to my longevity!

  • This gives a really good insight in to the machines, and compares them all. Because now every man and his dog is bringing out the same concept of a machine but you always want the best for the money. These machines arent the cheapest purchase out there. I will definitely recommend friends this article before they finally purchase one.

  • To have a slushie machine at home would be great and the info provided helps to make the right choice. We are always looking at ways to make the kids happy and my sons you to love their slushies. To be able to make them at home and knowing what is going in them is great. I would love to make my own ice cream free from as many additives as possible.

  • Thank you so much for this comprehensive review of all the machines!! I really feel like slushie machines are having a moment right now, and they absolutely should. Where I live there is no 7/11, so it’s hard getting a slushie fix. The first thing I would make is a pineapple daiquiri. Summery, cute and delicious

  • OMG imagine all the amazing combinations that you could make with a slushy machine, and enjoy outside on a lovely summers afternoon, sitting under the shade or in our case poolside. One of my favorite combinations is mango and pineapple, a summer classic or maybe you would like to try, raspberry, strawberry with a dash of lemon.
