Parents are being urged to immediately stop using four strollers, which were sold at major retailers including BIG W and Baby Bunting, amid concerns the handles may detach.

The ACCC has revealed the strollers have missing rivets, which may cause the handles to detach and the operator to lose control. The consumer watchdog said there is risk of ‘serious injury or death to children’ if the operator loses control of the stroller when in use.

Britax said in a statement, “Britax have found a small percentage of strollers may experience the handles may detach from these strollers due to missing rivets and the operator may lose control. If the stroller handle detaches, the operator may not have control of the stroller under certain circumstances, which may result in an injury or death to children.”

The Lightweight 4 wheeled strollers that convert from single to tandem mode have the following Series numbers:

  • Steelcraft One2 V2 Stroller – RM-S287T

  • Well thats a seriously scary headline.
It amazes me how these things even make it to the stores and what happens with the people that dont get to hear about these recalls?
I dont have one of these but have only heard about the recall here.
    Scary to think about.

  • Wow! Where’s the quality control? How could this happen? This could end up a catastrophe. So glad that the affected brands and companies selling them are aware and have put out urgent notifications for recall. But still? It makes you untrustworthy of those brands moving forward. With babies and young children’s lives at stake, there should be no errors whatsoever.

  • Thank you so much for posting this recall. How and why these type of products are released to the market without rigorous and stringent testing is really quite frightening. Manufacturers need to have enhanced safety, and more rigorous testing protocols in place to stop these types of recalls happening in the future.

  • This is soo incredibly scary! It makes you feel like you really can’t trust any product you purchase! You really have to be careful with every product just incase!
It’s just not worth the heartache of having your child injured from something so avoidable! I really am glad it was found

  • How does this keep happening? Surely there needs to be big changes to ensure products are extensively tested and certified before going to market.

  • I mean what can you say?! How did these get to market in the first place? Quality control is not optional with health products and anything to do with babies or the vulnerable. We often have to trust companies are doing the right thing, especially big brands. You can be vigilant but cannot be across everything. I hope no one has been hurt.

  • This is very scary! It scares me to think that these strollers made it into the market. Are there not very stringent safety guidelines and regulations for products sold here? I do not know how such a big stuff up could be allowed to happen. Let’s just hope that no one has died because of this.

  • Oh my goodness! What a horrendous fault for a stroller to have. This has unlocked a fear in me. I really hope this information gets to everyone who has purchased any of these models. I think all strollers, cots, car seats should be registered so we can be immediately notified if there are any recalls. How scary.

  • Thank you for sharing a crucial product recall for this stroller. I do hope this recall information is shared far and wide and members of this community also share it with their family and friends and networks. I have not seen the recall notice anywhere else and that is rather concerning.

  • Oh that is serious when a stroller can cause serious injuries or even death due to manufactory issues ! Thanks for the heads up.
I think the title of this article is puts BigW in a bad light saying that “Strollers Sold At BIG W Recalled Due To ‘Risk Of Serious Injury Or Death”. It says more clear in the article that the stroller is available from Britax Online, Baby Bunting, BIG W, Amazon and specialist baby stores; meaning it doesn’t have to do with BigW as such

  • Oh no! Always a worry when it comes to something many mums would be putting their very young babies in! I hope it reaches all those who have been affected and they can get it inspected and fixed if needed. It would be such a scary thing to put your child in danger

  • That’s a really scary defect, and it’s pretty scary too how long they were on sale before anyone noticed (or recalled them). Surely some quality control should have picked this up earlier? I hope this is widely publicised, because it’s really easy to imagine a very horrible accident resulting from the handles detaching unexpectedly.

  • Wow this is not good. I hope this reaches everyone who has purchased one of these prams. It is great that this article is being published here and informing parents, I just hope that this has been shared in lots of other social media avenues to ensure everyone who has one of these prams is across the risks.
