Westcott Antimicrobial Stationery Launches in Australia

Scientific research shows that many household items are bacterial breeding grounds and so if you’re packing the kids’ pencil case for back to school or planning to share scissors around the home or office, it pays to have peace of mind they are clean and safe to use.

Scissors can harbour many microbes which can be easily passed from one person to another. An antimicrobial coating gives an additional layer of protection. It also helps keep your scissors cleaner for longer and extends their life by preventing deterioration caused by mould and mildew and helps prevent the growth of bacterial odours.

With hygiene top of mind, Westcott Scissors has launched a new antimicrobial range with a special coating to help inhibit the growth of bacterial stains and odours, helping to defend against microbes and microorganisms such as common bacteria, yeast, mould and fungi.

Caring for your Scissors

If like so many people, you can’t find a pair of scissors when you need them – it pays to keep them stored in a regular, easy-to-remember place and look after them. Here’s how:

  1. Correct use – only use scissors to cut the materials for which they were designed. Using scissors for materials they weren’t intended for will dull the blades.
  2. Storage – store scissors in a closed position. Storing them open is the most common cause of dull blades.
  3. Environment – scissors should be kept dry and dust-free and the blades covered where possible to protect the points.

  • Our kids love to be creative, making finger puppets are one of their favourite things, they use the finger puppets at story time.

  • My twins love making paper chains they have all different colours hanging in there rooms

  • My little one loves cutting and pasting, and creating his works of art for his grannies and uncles and aunts. He is currently really captivated with cutting coloured paper strips to make masks and animal faces on paper plates or creating pictures with felt pieces, wool and different types of thread. Finding good quality, safe scissors for my toddler isn’t easy so these would be ideal for our rainy day craft activities. What a great idea to have an antibacterial coating to keep the scissors hygienic and reduce the risk of bacteria and potential infections, particularly in the current health climate.

  • My daughter is always tinkering and crafting. She would make some cute stickers to decorate her journal.

  • My son would love to make a lizzard paper and a cat mascara out of stationary pack. His creative and loves to do DIY . This is perfect for him as he loves to explore using scissor, pencil and paper.
